Not sure why it's not being talked about but I'm really excited for Toilolo. I think he will greatly boost our run game at the very least.
At the end of the year we will see Deebo and Hurd being used all over the field running and catching. I can't wait.

i would be so fine if those guys ended up starting! hell throw mathews in as well.. i was just so underwhelmed by the wide outs last year. no matter the reason,,,,, we really needed an upgrade. i love the new guys we have to battle for the second tight end spot to get celik the hell out of here

That article doesn't paint us in a good light. I don't know how much I trust anonymous scouts. You can probably find disgruntled scouts with every team in the the league, but the article makes our front office sound like amateurs.

The fact that Mullens and Beathard are competing for the 2nd string tells me something is deeply flawed in Kyle's thinking. Dude is either playing favorites or has zero ability to evaluate QBs.

That or he's probably making sure Mullens doesn't pull an Akhello and think he's good now and has his spot locked up. I would assume you continue to have them compete because that will push them both to be better and that will benefit us and them. You can't just hand it to Nick even if he did play well last year because that was last year. Prove it again. Take that back up spot.

What benefit would there be to tell Mullens he's penciled in as the backup?

Great post. That is exactly what it is, competition brings out the best in everyone and while it appears it is Nick's to lose, Kyle is going to make the young QB earn it.
Also a lot of decent backups in this league over the years have taken time to develop into just that. CJB might just be that or not, but the opportunity is there for him to improve. We all see him on the outside looking in, but if he can beat Mullens out for the backup job then that is good news for our depth at the position.
