Dan Quinn (28-3) and Robert Saleh (21 points in 5 minutes with only 7 minutes left) both had epic collapses. Of course Philly's vaunted D gave up a 10 point lead too to Mahomes and Reid.
Huh. So scheme and design choices and players not knowing what to do within them leads to other players at risk for injury? Who knew?
JTO's stealing your stuff from the Injury Thread, NC, are you going to do nothing about it?
From Lombardi to JTO to Cohn. Hi Grant. LOL

All I can say is that in 1981, Bill Walsh ran the ball to set up the *Catch I* in the last minutes of that game. I think Kyle has a bent towards the passing game when he panics. Just like football players revert to what they are comfortable with in an emergency situation, I think Kyle tends to panic in certain situations and start throwing. One reason why is that he's a WR kind of guy, he is comfortable with the pass as originally he played WR in college.
I think Kyle has to get his inner barbarian going. I think it was the Seattle playoff game this year where - if I remember correctly - one of the Seattle players tried to injure Deebo by twisting his leg. The whole team including Kyle was out on the field. Then the next thing was Kyle calling about 9 straight run plays for a TD. I think instead of Kyle getting jitters, he should start getting pissed off and just run over teams like in the Seattle playoff game and in the 2019 NFCCG. He has a wonderful rushing attack to do it too.
Haha. That was just a joke. Cohn is a frequent visitor here too.
Yeah, Kyle, like every coach, has his tendencies. Hopefully in the future, it won't matter if he should have run when he chose to pass or pass when he should have run. Having a full time built in security blanket like CMC has made a massive difference for his QB's. No doubt. But there are some scheme/design/coaching points that could make life a bit easier on his QB and his health. No doubt.
Saying the opposite should have been called is a factor, but there are time where you have no choice like X down and long
"Carry Shanahan's water." Consider the context Mostert, and by extension Jack, is ignoring and leaving out.
1) Jimmy audibled out of run plays to pass plays bc of the heavy boxes KC played late in the game. You don't run against 8-9 man fronts.
Appreciate the post. But we run against 8 man fronts all the time. I think the bigger issue was only rushing Mostert 2 times after we got momentum. That's why the Honeybadger said he was thrilled Kyle/Jimmy went away from the run. They couldn't stop it.
But if we're being honest, this is just one issue on another full-team collapse.
But Kyle is still here, hence the topic...so, did he learn? That's all I care about now.

Given how the offense jumped several levels when Kyle got CMC, that definitely was a big piece of the offensive puzzle last year. I remember the bear Defense in '84 and Walsh beat that ferocious Bear pass rush with an adept use of short passing and quick hitting runs. I don't remember a ton of slow developing play action passes in that game. I was thinking that might have been a better solution to the Eagles ferocious defensive line vs a play action pass. Oh well, I'm confident that Kyle will learn. He's already operating at a high level right now. I think, currently his floor is the playoffs and his ceiling is Super bowl. I'm down with that.

One thing I'm realizing with the Chiefs is that if you don't have an offense - you will lose a track meet game with this team. Even if you have a great defense.

No question about it. Unless he doesn't have a top OL of course. Then you can turn him into a backyard hero ball QB FTL.
The way the rule favor the offense now, it's really hard for a defense to prevent quick drives down the field. They change their coverages so they can't get beat over the top but that leaves everything open in the middle. Receivers are able to pick up a lot YAC. Throw in the fear of a big PI call and you have the recipe for a comeback.

Mahomes will always have an Offensive Line, simply because his head coach is one hell of an offensive line coach.

That's "rich."
so you would run it on 3rd and 14 with a 8/9 man box ?

Haha. True. Now he's lost both T's so I'll say it again like I did before he lost his first Superbowl...Mahomes isn't winning the Superbowl this year. He goes as that OL goes. No doubt. That's not saying he doesn't help a lot too. But he clearly needs a top tier unit like any other QB to win it.

Of course not. Did you want Jimmy to pivot to the run?
You are the one saying we should have ran it .. but obviously now you don't really mean it
He was talking about the entire game overall after coming off a 220 yard 4 TD performance and 2 full weeks to game plan. He had 12 carries. 12. And even those were 4.8 ypc...hence Honeybadgers comments after the game.
