It's up to us to make sure we compete for and win Super Bowls," York said. "That's our only goal. We don't raise division championship banners, we don't raise NFC Championship banners. We raise Super Bowl banners. And whenever we don't deliver that, I hope that you will hold me directly responsible and accountable for it. And we look forward to getting this thing back on track."

That quote was a pathetic attempt to justify moving on from a coach who was by far and away the most successful coach with the team in the York era to that point. Most people saw right through it, as they should have.

Am I losing my mind? The goal is to win a superbowl. It should be that way for every organization. We have a bunch of softees in here content with being good enough to lose in the playoffs. This is why participation trophies should be forever banned.

Participation trophies? f**king nonsense. No one on this team is satisfied with almost winning. It's insulting to the dudes we watch put it all on the field year after year, You're like a little delicate snowflake who can't handle the ebbs and flows of competition. You'd rather fire and start over, over and over, than sack up and take a loss like a man, and build some f**king callouses. And you complain to others about participation trophies from the comfort of your soft tear-riddled couch where you whine day and night about every conceivable issue. You're the worst kind of fan, a chicken-little toddler, as entitled as they are opinionated, loud and ill-informed.

Yes. 30 years of building callouses.

Keep em coming.

Keep loving that losing feeling.

At least im.not content with mediocrity. You have some rah rah guys here who are just happy to be competitive. Get that loser s**t out of here. Go root for the lions. THAT is the worst kind of fan. This organization is supposed to win superbowls.

Just because a team goes through a dynasty period like the niners did doesn't mean it has a god given right to keep it going forever. Players and coaches retire and die. S**t happens. The niners of today have to earn it like everyone else. Cherish the victories of the past but don't expect those victories to be a given in the future. Sport doesn't work that way.

Giving someone credit afterwards is different. Some people have annointed Kyle as the greatest without winning anything. If he wins, I'll give him credit. To date, he has not accomplished what he has been brought here to do.

Not one f**king person has anointed him the greatest…if that's your issue then you've been arguing with yourself

True, dat. And anyone pushing any coach other than Bill Walsh forward as the greatest around here is going to get blasted by ninety percent of the posters here and quite rightly. By the way, Bill Walsh was around 50 when he won his first Superbowl so Kyle has a few years to go yet.

I don't have a link but I remember reading that when Shanahan and Lynch were brought in, it was to build and maintain a powerful roster. I don't recall any specific stress on winning Lombardi's, although obviously that is to be expected sooner or later.

Funnily enough, aside from pretend journo's and some 49ers fans I don't think I have heard anyone badmouthing Shanahan. Commentators, real journalists, other teams fans and staff, everyone except SF area clickbaiters and snarky 49ers fans rate him very highly indeed. I am not sure I understand why any fan of the team would wish to talk down Shanahan, Lynch and Marathe. Oh, they make mistakes for sure. Who doesn't? But what they have done for the team is outstanding.

I did say I don't have a link. My recollection is them saying that their determination was to build a roster which would stay in contention year after year.

So how about the other point. The ones you ducked? Posters saying that Shanahan was the greatest ever?

Huh. So scheme and design choices and players not knowing what to do within them leads to other players at risk for injury? Who knew?

Shots fired at Jimmy.
Dunne asked Mostert what makes the Dolphins offense different from the one he was a part of with the 49ers.
"We have a quarterback who can actually sling it," Mostert responded.

Last season was kyles greatest year of coaching, yet. I think he's improved every season and learned from the last ones. I really think we would of won it all last year if we didn't run out of QBs :/ our whole team was firing on all cylinders.

brock was playing awesome, but who knows how he would of played in the eagles/super bowl. I think he would of done well enough to win. Even jimmy was playing his best ball yet before his injury.

i think our team will be better than last year, specifically our pass rush. Our CBS Came into their own. I just hope we can stay healthy and do some serious damage next year! 😈. I feel great about next season.

I clicked the link. Ouch, my eyes and ears!

My IQ -->

All I can say is that in 1981, Bill Walsh ran the ball to set up the *Catch I* in the last minutes of that game. I think Kyle has a bent towards the passing game when he panics. Just like football players revert to what they are comfortable with in an emergency situation, I think Kyle tends to panic in certain situations and start throwing. One reason why is that he's a WR kind of guy, he is comfortable with the pass as originally he played WR in college.

I think Kyle has to get his inner barbarian going. I think it was the Seattle playoff game this year where - if I remember correctly - one of the Seattle players tried to injure Deebo by twisting his leg. The whole team including Kyle was out on the field. Then the next thing was Kyle calling about 9 straight run plays for a TD. I think instead of Kyle getting jitters, he should start getting pissed off and just run over teams like in the Seattle playoff game and in the 2019 NFCCG. He has a wonderful rushing attack to do it too.

LMAO. He certainly can...when his brain is intact.

Haha. That was just a joke. Cohn is a frequent visitor here too.

Yeah, Kyle, like every coach, has his tendencies. Hopefully in the future, it won't matter if he should have run when he chose to pass or pass when he should have run. Having a full time built in security blanket like CMC has made a massive difference for his QB's. No doubt. But there are some scheme/design/coaching points that could make life a bit easier on his QB and his health. No doubt.

Best coach in the league right now, but still "learning" how to operate his team from guys on the internet.

There's no what-ifs here other than Jimmy completing that completely wide open pass for the touchdown.
