Yup. I'm more concerned about his protection up front than anything tbh. One injury screws that line up for sure.Originally posted by NCommand:Originally posted by PhillyNiner:Originally posted by NCommand:Originally posted by Cisco0623:Fans forget the schedule is tough and we've sucked. 100% agreed.
It really depends on Jimmy and what he really is as a QB. We are really built a great deal like a Patriots team. We are clearly rolling with their talent development philosophy nearly all parts are interchangeable on the offense except for one. If Jimmy is up to the task and is the real deal, goes out there and has a break out year, this team can go really far. If he is only average, or gets hurt again etc...We will be in for another long year.
No doubt we go as JG goes. But it's best to curb your enthusiasm ATM.
Since 2001, the #49ers are the only team in the NFL to not have a QB throw for more than 3,500 yards or 21 touchdowns passes in a single season. They're also one of only three teams to not have a QB make the Pro Bowl since 2002 (Ravens, Dolphins are other two).

Lynch has to say he wants him signed. Lynch has to set what the max salary is. Paraag's job is to structure it the best way he can to benefit the team while still getting the player to agree to sign. The contract, as far as how it's written is very good for the 49ers.
The question is how much Kyle called the shots over Lynch in this. They both should get some criticism if he fails, IMHO.
I do see how it's messed up for Lynch though. He won'get get much credit for getting him in the first place because of how it all came to be.

Paraag shouldn't be ripped no matter what happens with Jimmy. Who we sign isn't his decision and the contract we gave Jimmy is extremely team friendly after this year and allows us to cut ties without being on the hook for a ton of money.

Yeah it was bad indeed. Brutal actually. Just noting the LONG trend. For 4 years we said we'd regress back to the norm on the injury front and that never happened. This is another trend. Is low turnovers another?
All that said, we're certainly in prime position to finally buck the QB trend. But until it actually happens, it's still a consistent, almost predictable trend that we can use to curb our enthusiasm if it gets too high.

Respectfully disagree 100%. It's year 3. I make excuses for this team every year. I love Kyle as a coach. However it's year 3. It's show me time. They have the talent. If they don't stay healthy that's their fault signing, drafting and continuing with players who can't stay healthy. 9 wins minimum. D-Line is stacked and there are enough pieces at least in terms of starters to win. Who needs more than 3 years to turn a franchise around anymore??? 9 wins or more period.

I understand that it's Lynch and Shanny's decision on who they sign. I was referring to the contract which some think was too much for a guy that had proved nothing. It is team friendly so it shouldn't be an issue.

my guess -
no playoffs- Saleh is gone
less than 9 wins- Lynch is gone
less than 8- Kyle could be gone

I do think Saleh is the fall guy this season depending on what happens. I think around 8 wins...everyone stays. Less than that someone will take the fall...Saleh probably. I think Kyle and John will get one more season together unless the team falls flat on their face with 4 wins. If that happens...Lynch and Saleh are gone. I think Kyle stays almost regardless of what happens as long as the offense keeps putting up points and trending up in the league.

Lynch and Kyle are safe, the last thing we need is to fire our HC and/or GM again. Saleh is on the hot seat though.

if we don't at least go .500? I'd say Lynch shouldn't be safe. I'd argue that a good experienced GM might solve the problem. I would let that GM choose if he wanted Kyle, or ask them to give Kyle 1 year at least.

I mean...I'm not saying that's how I want it to go. I am just saying that is how it is. That is the way the team is built. I would love for them to go out and be world beaters with studs at every position. But that isn't the kind of team Lynch put together. He is looking at sustainable steady growth and a long term roster. He is looking at the Patriot way and emulating that. The deal there is you have to have a great QB so you can spend less on one side of the ball. Yes the D is stacked, but that is at the expense of the offense, just like with the Pats. You have one major guy a ton of roll players, plus a tight end who can create mismatches. We are exactly what they are roster wise...the question is if Jimmy is up to the roll of Tom. The one big difference here is our genius is on the side of the ball we are spending less on which might mitigate the QB issue a bit, but we are also as you said stacking the D with a bit more talent than they do.

No. I dont see anyone I want more than Kyle. And in our position I dont think we sack someone without a successor in the crosshairs. If Kyle is still happy with Lynch, they both stay.
Salah? Well, lets see what the D looks like.

I want to keep Kyle as well but if we don't hit at least .500, I don't think Saleh is enough of a sacrificial lamb. We'll see where the issues come from, but if it is something that should have been obviously addressed like the secondary? then I think we need a different person making decisions on how to build this team.

Well, fortunately its not our call. But unless you have someone in mind who can do the job better, dont be in too much of a hurry to sack people. I think I like the way they are building for the long term.
