And replace Brock and Bethea. Hopefully Redmond will make an impact and team up with Robinson.

Most importantly and like others said, we need a DC. Too bad no one wants to coach opposite Kelly's offense.

Having a good offense that can stay on the field would help

Great defenses are built from the middle--need strong defensive tackles to hold the point of attack, great middle-linebacker to dominate and a safety that can cover space. Allen from Alabama--a middle lb thumper to replace bow and a safety like earl thomas--budda baker washington?

100% agree. It looked like we had that to start the season (on paper): Williams/Dorsey @ NT, Bowman/Ray-Ray @ ILB, Reid/Ward/Tartt/Bethea @ S and at least two perimeter players in Lynch & Robinson.

It's not as simple as replacing O'Neil with a better DC and/or adding a premier pass rusher. Any PR added has to be done with a commensurate improvement of the DL, specifically getting a stud NT. Both Armstead and Buckner's play will improve once that's done. Outside of Blair, I don't see much quality depth behind the starters. That also has to change.
ILB must be upgraded. Even if both Bowman and Armstrong come back close to 100%, there's no quality depth behind them. Hodges has talent, just needs to become more disciplined. OLB could use a stud PR...but again, only if the DL's upgraded along with it. It's the guys up front who create PR opportunities. Brooks may need to go...Lynch has to get and stay healthy. Harold's shown some progress this season.
S is another position in need of upgrade...Bethea's got to go, he's slowed down way too much. Reid's good at times, inadequate at times. Tartt has potential, but must step up his game.
At CB, DJ needs to get on the field...Robinson's the only other good-sized CB on the roster. Anxious to see what Redmond can do once healthy.
If the Jets end up firing Bowles, he'd be the guy to replace O'Neil.

a big-time Nose Tackle say at least an 85 Madden rating haha. then an inside linebacker that can fly around the field and make plays and a premier edge rusher to put pressure on opposing Qb. that right there would make our defense a top 5-10 unit

Explain to Ahmad Brooks what a line of scrimmage is. Been lining up wrong since Jim Harbaugh was at Stanford.

NT and pass rusher, honestly the young kids are all talented and have promise..Lynch, Ward, Buckner, AA, Tartt, Robinson, Redmond, Armstrong, and Reid are all young guys who have talent that have to be coached the right way..O'Neill hurt them by putting them bad positions and bad calls..all of them with a healthy Bowman any DC will be excited to coach them..id love for a fiery young guy or even say Bowles, Bradley or Pettine if the go a veteran failed head coach..these kids aren't bad..they are poorly coached..

get a good DC & draft some D with our first 3 picks! lol seriously today showed that we badly need an interior lineman & LB. Imagine say a J. Allen next to buckner? sht yes@
or if we went LB say a Williams or foster along with Bowman?

Practice tackling. We start arm tackling in the 2nd half
