There were interviews at the beginning of the season that had him saying he wanted to make the 10 year wall for this team because he thought it meant something to play your career for the team that drafted you. And we want to trade him.

Nothing could be worse right now for this struggling team than to trade the one veteran leader they have on the offense.

Jed has no control over his staff at all. FAR too many rumors and leaks coming out. Just another example of how bad this franchise is being run.

That isn't the point.

The one thing that the young players on this team need now more than anything else, is veteran leadership. Leadership that will teach them how to stay strong, how to be a warrior that can continue to fight even in losing battles.

Young players are more easily discouraged and become accepting of continuing losses. Without someone like Staley, who knows by experience what it takes to get through hard times, a culture of losing will become the culture they accept.

Staley might bring a nice player in the draft but in the meantime, if 10 young players on this team do not learn the lessons he could teach, they will be no better than the day they were drafted.

The main reason we are suffering now is not just the lack of talent, it is the lack of leadership on this team. It is no coincidence that the team started in decline when the great veterans retired. With no leaders to follow, they just wander through the game.
