I took the under last year. I'll take the over this year.

The oddsmakers are pretty accurate. They have to be, or they won't be in business for long. Typically, they're within about 1.5 games. They take a strictly rational approach and then rely on emotional fans to bet with their hearts instead of their heads.

We weren't favored to win any games in 2015 either as far as I know (maybe the Browns). We're still projected to get 5 wins because the favorite doesn't win every week. Vegas thinks we've slightly improved because we were a 3-13 or 4-12 team for all intensive purposes going 5-11 but winning 2 games off of late missed field goals by our opponents and getting blown out most weeks. We had the lowest scoring offense in the league and an abysmal +/- which was up there with the Browns for last in the league (no one else was close to us).

Vegas predicting we win 5 games means they think the team has gotten a little better which is understandable considering we added Chip Kelly and have some talented draft picks even though we did very little in free agency. This is old news too - the spreads on each game came out weeks ago and we weren't favored in any back then.

Damn we have one of the toughest schedules in the league. Realistically, 5 wins isn't that unbelievable. ..which sucks.

except for the fact that the over is impossible mathematically.
