Becausethis coaching staff is fuxking stupid. They favor certain players even though they are horrible.

I hope he gets extended but he prolly wont be.

I was hoping he was a guy that they extend before FA. He should have one year left. Very good rotational guy that they may foolishly let walk.

Lynch simply does not extend good players.
I'm 50-50 on him.

Agree that he's a rotational guy and I really wanted him to light it up.

At this point he's replaceable.

I feel the same about Blair, Armstead, and Thomas. Who knows, Street could be in the mix too. If we end up with Bosa or Williams, which of these guys plays the remaining spot on the line?

He's the second best edge player on this team and he is MORE than serviceable.

Please do not tell me that you're a fan of AA, Thomas, Garnett, Tomlinson, or Ward. Those players are the true definition of replaceable.

Yep. Good not great but what more can you ask for in relation to where we got him in the draft?
Blair is actually kind of a wildcard. Slight chance he could be a surprise breakout candidate considering he's shown gradual improvement each year in terms of sacks per game, but he'll have to earn that playing time for sure. I think Ronnie B has potential to be a 6-8 sack rotational guy.

While Street is strong, if you all recall, Blair came into the combine at similar dimensions (6-2 284), pumped the bar 34 times at the combine (6 more than Street), and has 34" arms (1 1/8 inches longer than Street). Pure power-move pass rush specialist. I'd like to keep him around, so it'll be interesting to see if guys like Taylor and Street can push to overtake his spot on the depth chart.

the competition this year at DL and WR will be fun to watch.
Prior to Dee Ford and Bosa, our best unit was the DL. Also had the most players of any unit.

What we didnt have was good DL coaching. Nor good DCing. Now we have two big improvements at DB Coacha and DL coach. Real coaches. For awhile there it looked like John and kyle kind of ignored the D coaching. Don't even know the two gentlemen who are now gone at DB and DL (oh yeah, Zgonina)... but I do know that late in season when kyle /john explicitly said to Saleh, "Play Solomon inside"...Zgonina, evidentially, had ST line up inside and then prior to snap, moved him back outside. That was a direct countermanding of HC and GM's orders. Besides there were other telltale signs that Z had no business being a DL Coach.

So now lets see with Kocurek what he can do with the DL. It is vastly different now and , of course, that is going to make everything DL look all kinds of different. But a truly great DL coach a) knows how to coach up his players, and b)knows how to use them as a unit.

It was pretty obvious Z did neither of the two.

When you have AA AND Solomon busting thru the LOS, and then not knowing what or how to do next, that is coaching. BADLY done coaching. So altho there are bets on who will get cut, i will depend a whole lot more on what Kocurek teaches these guys and then how he uses them. Plus the talent just got about 1000% better on the ends. I am really looking forward to what K can do with this massively improved crew, and who works best with them in a backup situation. I wouldn't cut out Arik quite yet, altho i have no idea how K is going to use all the rotational players we have inside.

No question, if trades that is one thing. But if cuts, we are going to be cutting some fine talent from our DTs. And with Arik there is the $$ consideration also.
Sorry Doc, I like your posting, but AA & Solly are terrible after the LOS because of a lack of agility and burst, not coaching.

Anyway this is the Blair thread, I am perfectly fine with Blair as our #3 edge rusher, but I wish we had a better #4, injuries do worry me.

If the d-line isn't the best in football this year, it'll be a little disappointing.
Great 3rd pass rusher....wouldn't be shocked if he got some cash from another team in FA
I feel real good about edge group with Bosa, Ford, Blair and Street. What a difference an offseason makes.

I wonder how long until refs start cracking down on Defo's club-to-the-back-of-the-head move. He loves using that as a changeup to his swim lol.

Mac, i watched also as AA and Solomon busted thru the LOS but seemed to not know what to do once they got there. And i think that is coaching...or lack thereof. Zgonnia is gone. We now have Kocurek whose DLs i have liked in times past. AA and Solly break thru LOS, i feel pretty sure Kocurek is going to school them in what comes next. I think both guys, not just solly do well this yr. Cripes wihen you got Buck , Bosa and Dee on the DL...how could they not become a force? Attention is not going to be devoted to them.

We won't know til season is underway, but i hope we get an idea in PS. I'm betting on both guys "getting it". Solomon for sure , but i think Arik too.

The even better news is we got Blair and Street backing them up . Last yr our DL was our best unit. This yr? Same thing, DL is the unit.`
