Nice combo: 1st time HC and 1st time executive.
If I were Gamble, I would quit immediately. Why should he report to a n00

I agree ... if things go well, Lynch will be promoted to VP of Football Ops and Peters will be upped to GM

Roster needs to be built slowly. Strong drafts is key. Supplement with Free agents with older good free agents getting overpaid but only for one or two year contracts and investeing in younger free agents with longer and smart contracts and then resigning our own free agents with smart contracts and not overpaying

We're gonna have over 100 mill. Don't you think we can overpay a lil cause of the room? Those contracts will be expiring when it's time to pay the young guys. I'm not worried at all, we need to come out of FA with 3-4 starters. Then you're able to have a great draft by not having glaring needs.

Well, to get anyone worth anything right now, you have to overpay but for shorter term contracts. Most of these free agents won't be younger free agents but the ones who are older trying to get the biggest contracts they can get. The younger free agents can get longer term contracts

QB,QB,QB.... Tribusky is the answer IMO. Him and Schaub for a couple years who knows the system is Golden.

Of the 9 GM's we were interested in, this is what they pumped out over the past 4 years:
1. Found a FQB (draft/free agency/trade);
2. Had a retention rate average of 47.3%
3. Found 2 to 3 impact players along with 8 quality starters over four years; and
4. Added another 3 quality starters via free agency over the same time period (no impact players save for Seattle)
--- note --- starters are found all over the board too. As an example, Eliot Wolf, since 2008 (9 drafts) has retained 32/77 picks (41.5%). And only 13 of them have come from rounds 1 and 2. As fans, we massively overvalue draft position. The key for him was finding players that fit their WCO and defensive systems and he's found plenty of success from rounds 3-7. Adding that draft success to a FQB coupled with stable offensive and defensive philosophies and terrific coaching/development, and he'll be a prospective GM every year (and get plenty of raises along the way).
There isn't much difference in the success of any GM these days. The true difference is in finding that FQB. Period. Many GM's achieve the same success, just using different philosophies (i.e. GB solely focuses on the draft and no FA; McDonough focuses more on FA and less on the draft --- but the end results are pretty similar over the past 4 years). If you find a FQB, you can stay for 10 years. If you don't, you're going to be fired sooner rather than later. It's that simple.
Therefore, Lynch/Peters/Gamble/Shanahan's next move will be to focus HARD on finding that FQB and spare no expense in doing it. Note the Eliot Wolf scenario above. Right now, it looks like there are about 7 main scenarios to achieve this:
First Pick Scenarios:
1. Garrett (2nd overall pick) + Peterman (pro-style QB; first pick in the 3rd round)
2. Trubisky (2nd overall pick) + Peterman (first pick in the 3rd round)
3. Garrett + Garoppolo (first pick in the 2nd round + 2018 first pick in the 2nd round + more)
4. Cousins (2nd overall pick + 2018 first pick in the 1st round)
5. Lattimore/Davis/Williams + Peterman (first pick in the 3rd round)
6. Trade back (pick up 2 top 10 picks + more) + Peterman (first pick in the 3rd round)
7. Trade back (pick up 2 top 10 picks + more) + Garoppolo (trade 1 of the 2 top 10 picks to NE) + Peterman (first pick in the 3rd round)
Veteran Adds:
Hoyer/Ponder
Late Round Adds:
C.J. Beathard/Mitch Leidner (pro-style QB's)
As to the rest of the team needs, they are identical to last year. We have plenty of quality starters but we badly need 2-3 impact players on both sides of the LOS (NT, ER, CB, ILB + FQB, ZWR, C, FB). Then add quality depth.
That's the key to fixing this team IMHO.

NT and ILB can easily become pass rush DE&SAM OLB if we run a 4-3 dominant scheme.

The Draft obviously
and getting as good as possible as quickly as possible on Defence
and then hoping you catch that lightning in a bottle on offense
then toping up in Free Agency
and then implementing strong CULTURE!
