Just look at the NBA for your answer. I told my wife right after LeBron said he wasn't playing in "No empty building", he was thinking with only the right side of his brain. He SHOULD have been worried about those 17,505 fans in there, probably a handful who already had the virus, which put him and his $35 mil /yr contract (or whatever it is) at huge risk. If he catches the virus he misses a good part of the season if he's lucky. If unlucky he dies. Now i don't see Le Bron dying but yesterday evening, in Utah, the Jazz line up for the tip off and the game was cancelled when one of the Jazz players tested positive. Later last nite a 2nd jazz player tested positive..
And LeBron wants to play in a full Forum with that hanging over him? No way.
As for the vaccine, it will be ready probably within a few weeks. And not one but many of them. THEN the testing starts to see if 6, 9 , 12 months out some awful side effect doesn't occur. Getting the vaccines ready, was the easy part,(not really but in comparison, yes)...doing the govt testing for side effects? That is where the time is taken up.
Right now a very simple method of fighting the virus is available... take serum from a person who had the disease, and got 100% better, and then use that in up to 2-3 other people who have the disease...and there you go. Already been done by the Chinese in Wuhan, and was done decades ago by physicians. Problem is it is time consuming can't be done on a large scale like vaccines, and hence, isn't used . Plus you have to find the "cured ' patients and get them to volunteer serum. Then you have to submit the serum for exam to be sure it doesn't have HIV, hepatitis, or other contagious disease. Hence, the vaccine. Probably out 9-12 mos from now..
