Let me guess. You probably want Mike Singletary back

Norv Turner anyone?

No thank you. As you seem since Norv has exited San Diego Phillip Rivers has blossomed into a great player. His statistics have gone up in every category, plus SD looks sharp. Norv Turner does a 7-8 step drop back with 15-20yard routes ran. This is exactly what is getting Kap killed in the pocket(sacked 43 times already) and what had got Rivers in that funk for so many years. Plus Turner is terrible in the post season. His record is worse than Mannings

It's great just not realistic. The 49ers will lose this game ending their hope for a playoff birth and will mean the end of the Harbaugh era.

that's bs. so 3 years of brilliant success and one measly slump and he gets fired? the f**k? short term memory loss?

More like 4 years of offensive ineptitude. Its not that he is losing games, its how he is losing them, scoring more than 17 points once in 6 games with his hand picked OC, his hand picked QB and if the reports are to believed, he's largely lost the locker room and has been absurdly insubordinate.

doesn't matter, he's winning games. he is a winner. people need to be more f**king grateful. Just as many wins in his 3 year tenure as the amount we accumulated during the 8 year drought. you're referring to ONE season...Going to get rid of him after all the success he's had? Was just in the SUPERBOWL just over 2 years ago. if you think we're better off without him then I feel sorry for you.

Im just telling you the reality of the situation. It could be that Harbaugh will never last more than a few years in any one location because he rapidly wears his welcome out. In anycase, he looks to be well on his way out the door right now.

Most of us are very grateful but we also acknowledge his tendency to burn bridges...as his brother has mentioned regarding their childhood. Is it all overblown? Maybe...but we'll see down the road. Basically, we're hedging our bets by trying to guess what the changes will be if there are changes. Some folks don't like Harbaugh or blame him for offensive woes...seems like the buck should stop with him. If he supports Roman and sees no problem with the offense, what does that say?

I would guess the vast majority of 9er fans would like to see a new OC with Harbaugh staying on as HC.

As long as Harbaugh lets the OC have carte blanche on playcalling absolutely. But like with Sing he is a control freak who has to micromanage the offense.

Take this for what its worth
http://www.bayareasportsguy.com/san-francisco-49ers-head-coach-mike-holmgren-interested/
It's hard to say without knowing who would come with them or who would be kept from our team but I'd have it something like this:

Top Tier:
Harbaugh - New O staff minus rathman but unlikely. Ideally Harbaugh gives a little too and works with a passing OC but not that we give up on run. Just don't see him changing so he would probably hire another run oc if he somehow stays here.

2nd Tier:
Gruden - I don't see him making Kap too much better. Keeps us at the 9-11 win range but could top out 1-2 rounds into the playoffs. Intrigued by him but I don't look at him as a savior, I think he's somewhat overrated. That being said I think he would be a solid safe hire.
Fangio - Obviously need a good OC and would Tomsula or Donatell be able to handle the D?
Tomsula - The rah rah will work at first, maybe leads us deep into the playoffs a year or 2 but not an x's and o's guy and rah rah wears off. Also does Fangio stay and who could he get for OC, does he have connections? I think he would be better than Singletary but not sure this is the long term answer.

3rd Tier:
Gase - Would have to keep D staff (or whats left),kind of a risky hire & with a loaded team not sure we should be going risky.
Bowles - I think he gives us what Fangio/Tomsula give us but without the knowledge and already established relationships with our team.
Holmgren - Best days probably behind him, I think a lot of people want him because of 9er past and the WCO,intrigued by him though
Bevell - I think Lynch and Wilson scrambling is a big reason for their success, Seattle fans wanted him gone not long ago
Pep Hamilton - I think Luck is a big part of their success and he doesn't come with so I'll pass
McDaniels - More of an oc

And overall I think Harbaugh is the most likely to keep us in the SB hunt. I think Gruden, Fangio, Tomsula and Bowles would be safe hires and keep us in the 9-11 range but I think we could top out 1-2 rounds in. Gase, Hamilton, McDaniels, Bevell and some what Holmgren are more risky... they might put us over the top or might be epic failures. I worry that we would lose our D staff or some of them if a new HC comes in that's why I'd like one of our guys as HC.

Reports that Holmgren wants the job. Reports that Gruden wants the job.

Baalke is gonna be able to pick between 6-7 guys, easily. LOL at Kawakami and others who think they'll promote Roman (seriously - LOLOLOLOL). I also doubt they go with someone with primarily defensive experience.

if he can not work with the front office it does not matter what fans want, that marriage went sour. if he is not going to fire roman, well then you tell me if he should stay? and yes,, jim is who jim is, we knew that going in,, we knew this would not last long term because that is not who jim is. if you think we are going to go back to 2-14 just because jim and roman will not be here next year, than i really feel sorry for you and your lack of faith.. oh and here is a news flash,, we can all be thankful for what he did for us but we can also hold him and his fat little henchmen accountable for the mistakes that have been made, this years fiasco and yes we were in the super bowl,, but those two prevented us from winning the game, roman should have been fired that night in my opinion. i know one thing always leads to another around here but just because some of us are ok with those two being gone does not mean we want mike s or dennis e back

They'll be lining out the door to interview for the 49ers job if Harbaugh is gone. People comparing this to 2003 are being silly, they won't have to twist Monte Kiffin's arm and still have him turn them down because they are a trainwreck of a franchise, deep in salary cap hell, limited on talent with possibly the worst GM in the NFL.

that is what i say,, some people think when jh leaves, the niners will cease to exist, the webzone will cease to exist, everything we ever knew about the niners would have just vanished. they have little faith in the front office to bring in a good person and yes, this job is attractive to many people like gruden and holmgren i would bet.. sad to say the job and our team is more attractive to a coach than to some of our so called fans right now ,,, our next coach is someone NOT nor should it be someone on the current coaching staff
