OND, that would be just cherry as a matter of fact. I would dearly love to see both St Lu and AZ beat the crap out of SEA (ok, a one point win would be fine too.) Point is, they both will not be "Mail-it-in" games for us, and we now have 6 really tough games this season...all in our division, before we even look who else is on the slate. Only good thing I see about that is that once we get outside our division, the sledding won't seem as tough.
As to the orginal question "is our roster better now than a yr ago, I will pose this question: Just exactly how many guys that we cut will be starting elsewhere? I think at the end of the day, it will be a staggering number. I bet it is over a dozen guys and I could be way on the low side. That answers the question.
NC, ditto about the Goodwins, Browns, rogers, whitners...AMF, and look out for Ward, Bethea, Kilgore/Looney et al, incl our 3 new CBs, who I bet all play this yr. And that doesn't even mention our new C, ILB, OLB, FB, RB, and so on. Teams picking from the 49ers leavings are going to be standing in line, taking numbers and scooping our guys up like a hungry man with biscuits and gravy.
VPoC, if you really think Whitner is better than Bethea, take a gander at the Bethea thread that has vids of him playing DB. The guy is a pass deflector, not a guy making a hard tackle after the reception. Big, huge improvement. And if you like Rogers and brown over Brock, wow, that is your opinion, but Brock is a stud. Again refer you to videos on Brock and why he started mid season after an injury . The guy is impressive, but just an opinion.
