Final Outcome of Alex Smith Trade

I wouldn't be too smug about the deal. Smith and Kaepernick have split the three seasons under Harbaugh right down the middle. Alex has a better winning percentage, completion rate, and passer rating over that time. The team went 19-5-1 with Alex starting, and 17-6 with Kaepernick.

Those wins and losses don't add up

They add up to 48. Three seasons x 16 games = 48.

That should tell you that Smith's success was because of Harbs.
When you have a coach who is as good at developing Qb's like Harbaugh is, why wouldn't you want somebody with a higher ceiling?

They only add up if you turn the TV off after the regular season is over.

Yeah? And Kap led us to a super bowl, Alex didn't. Kap is more explosive, Alex isn't. And does this have to be another Alex vs Kap thread?
Facts, Kap has more upside, he is more mobile, better arm, accuracy IMO. Alex was a 1st overall pick bust, he is in his 30s, he has had his 1 big rookie deal. Does he deserve a new deal? Sure, but not in Kap's range, which isn't even that big of a deal.
I just don't see why people need to rehash history. Alex got hurt, he wasn't really all that great at staying healthy, he was hurt quite a bit, so Kap took advantage. Kap makes throws Alex wishes he could make.
But who cares, we have a younger QB with more upside than Alex ever did IMO. So be happy.

Alex's next contract will once and for all put an end to this debate. It seems like the Chiefs are not too keen to pay someone 18 million a year to throw the ball to their running back.

25 games for AS
23 games for Kaep
Not a even split like you said, you also gave AS the tie win he was actually losing that game and Kaep brought us back twice to only tie cause Akers sucks
And you forgot the most important games of all..the playoffs
AS 1-1
Kaep 4-1, 0-1 (SB)

We drafted a ton of players these last two drafts because of the Alex for 2 second rounder picks - trade. Next year we don't have that extra second rounder anymore. I was hoping Tolzien or colt would be the next trade to get us more draft picks but both fell through.

That is nice, but we still have a 2nd round pick next year, don't we?
And we did not get Bowman in the supplemental draft, did we?
OK. Maybe, I am just being overly finicky, but......dang

Not bad for a stop-gap QB. Our FO rocks.

Big problem from what I read on the all about the rest of the NFL forums here. He wants to be paid Colin Kaepernick money without the arm, mobility, or accuracy of Mr. Kaepernick.
