Dang, I don't even know why we extended Tartt? I feel like he's injured a lot, too.
Nine games his first 3 years, the bulk of which was last year. Even when he plays it seems like he is always dinged up. But I guess most guys are?

Sadly, this is true. It's not like we have a young DB that is inactive or on the practice squad because Jimmy Ward is taking a roster spot. You can't just cut guys because they are bad players. You have to have someone better behind them. I personally don't care for Eli Harold, but are his replacements better? An example of a good cut would be when we cut Torrey Smith and Vance McDonald and they were replaced with Marquise Goodwin and George Kittle. Witherspoon (even though he looked terrible yesterday) over Dontae Johnson is another. We have more holes than players at the moment and it is going to take some time to produce enough quality starters AND depth. Of course they could have spent more in free agency, but that isn't exactly the most prudent approach. I get their logic in thinking they have a backup at CB and FS. Unfortunately, Ward appears to have regressed.
I'll say after this offseason, we will know all we need to know about the Shanalynch draft picks and free agent signings and I'd be more comfortable spending to fill more holes and give us flexibility for the 2019 draft. I'm also expecting underperforming players to finally be cut loose.
This.
Elaboration of the "not under this contract":
There must be a good reason for a cut, e.g. a player that is key to Shanny's offense or Saleh's defense, becomes available.
Other than that, burning 8.5 Mio. for no reason has to lead to a dismissal of the GM.
A dismissal of the gm??? Lmfao. U r HILARIOUS
yes, if someone burns my money for no reason, he will leave.
You do realize no GM would have a job if that was how you do business right? You realize that right?
Name one GM who hasn't wasted money. I'll wait.
One of the most ridiculous posts I have ever read. No gm anywhere would have a job lmao

I hope Ward's latest injury isn't serious, but just keep him on the bench all year.
Get the kids in there and let them take their lumps / gain experience.

Idk but if they have anything positive to say about his game, I'll never believe anything they say ever again.

So he came out of the game injured last night, I'm done with him. I really wanted him to work out, thought he had talent but he's not a fit at CB and his frailty caught up with him again.

Put him at FS. He was doing well last year before he got hurt. On the bright side, if he gets hurt this year, it makes it easier to decide our rollover for next season.

In a way I'm glad he got paid. Unfortunately it was through us and we won't benefit anything. I'm glad because he really does seem like a good dude...he must be pissed af that he is always injured. He must be more frustrated than anyone.
Football is not his calling (his body won't allow it). I doubt that even a desperate team will sign him after he's no longer a 49er. Hopefully he is a smart investor, he got paid good.
