Eager for some more news I hope we are just waiting for markets to cool off to pick up some quality role players. I love people who say FA doesn't win superbowls you have to draft. The draft can only be the foundation but you need to supplement with FA all your draft misses. Tell me again how FA doesn't won superbowls. Boldin was key in Baltimore, Lynch in Seattle, Primetime tipped the scales for us, Plaxico took Giants to win over Patriots and there are plenty more examples of guys who tipped the scales.
We need to find the guys who will tip the scales Gabbert and Martin aren't those guys.

Kap isn't Peyton who can lead a team no matter who the coach is. If Jed says is true and Jim will be extended after draft I'll feel a little better about the moves.
I guess you all like coming so close and losing year after year that solidifying back up spots excites you. Is Martin and upgrade over Synder? No. Is Gabbert better than McCoy I don't know. Is Bethea better than Whitner probably without the roughness calls may fare a little better.
I don't know the market on Edelman, Jacoby Jones, Munnerlyn and I don't pretend to. I do know they aren't too tier guys but are upgrades at positions of needs. Do you like the thought of Culliver coming off injury being the #2 corner. I know I don't feel great about it. Do I want Patton to improve absolutely. Have him at 4th WR and push for the 3 job and not to mention if Crabs or Boldin go down were not left with Marlon Moore and Baldwin again.
Still work to be done here and in draft excited for Carradine and Lattimore to see the field.
I love Boldin and Dawson coming back but I still need more substance.

Thanks for clearing things up for me. I envision the FO signing another CB soon. As it stands, I can live with Brock, Cully, Wright and Morris, but I do hope we use a high draft pick on another CB.
Now that I think about it, I like the game plan. When you see teams like the Cowboys putting themselves in a corner with outrageous longterm contracts, it makes me appreciate Baalke's philosophy even more.
Go Niners!

Payton in the playoffs- 11-12
Payton under Dungy went to Super Bowl, Peyton under Caldwell went to Super Bowl , Peyton under Fox went to Super Bowl. Kap still has less than a 60% completion rate. Most coaches don't like that. Harbaugh makes Kap better Peyton makes his coaches better there's a difference.

for 3 years now we've been using the same formula and I think it's been figured out, I was hoping the front office would at least make a big splash somewhere..
imagine Kaep with Crabtree, Boldin, and Eric Decker!
now that excites!!
provide proof that we have been figured out please? if you followed this team you should know they do not make a big splash putting all of the eggs into one expensive basket that could put our future in doubt(see what denver is doing). this formula has brought us three nfc title games and a super bowl showing. if we have been figured out, we would have never made the playoffs and would have been beat on the road by either green bay or carolina in my opinion
I'll tell you right now, we are extremely lucky to have Kaep, because he is the one who tips the scale in the post-season, we are a QB away from being completely figured out, what has Gore done in the post season lately!?
We need to stop being run-heavy and be a more pass-heavy team....now that will excite!!!
eric decker is your big splash? PASS

Yes there is a difference. Peyton is a 15 year starter Kap is in year 2.5 fresh off a college pistol offense. Kap threatened SEA Peyton shat the bed vs themOriginally posted by nj9er:Payton under Dungy went to Super Bowl, Peyton under Caldwell went to Super Bowl , Peyton under Fox went to Super Bowl. We resigned our guys got a better, IM, at S w/Bathea. Zero penalties last year - I'm sure you've read the other pluses.
Gave up 2 very late picks for 2 potential contributors. martin will be a swing tackle and be in on all the Jumbo packages. JH and Roman know him very well and probably believe they can get him to a higher level of play.
Everyone said Alex was finished, done and over. JH took him and elevated his performance where we got 2 2nd rounders for him. He's developing Kap and will get Gabbert to a better level.
As far as selling the farm for Revis - GET F'n REAL!!!! He did Tampa a world of good There is no way in hell he goes anywhere for cheap.
People will point to Seattle as one success I'd like to mention Atlanta for Julio - they suck! Saints for Ricki - we all know how that turned out.
Our FO is excellent and FA in't over yet. I still tink Trent will have a Very Good surprise addition to our team
Revis is still elite:

What would you pay? $10M guaranteed for 2 years? + incentives? I say sure.

This, but nj does have a point.
I also don't know if you can blame that loss on Peyton. For how crappy the broncos game plan going into that game was, and how loose their O-line was, Peyton played well.

They are not "great" moves, but they are low-risk, buy-low gambles.

Gabbert is the highest paid QB on our roster. Great job.
I love Kap but if your saying he is better than Peyton your out of your mind. At this point in their careers would I rather have Kap? Yes I would. If you think Kap could win 12 games with Jim Caldwell as the coach your out of your mind. There's a reason we went from 7-9 to 13-3 and he wears WalMart khakis.
A great move would be getting Revis in here with Rogers money. A great deal would pay E. Sanders Manninghams money.
Resigning Dawson and Boldin and replacing Whitner were he right moves not great moves.

Don't they have to give Kap a raise now? According to MM Gabberts contract is fully guaranteed. Meaning he gets his 2 million this year or not.
