Anyone who wants to cut a top-ten RB should pop in a tape of the year Kevan Barlow took over for Hearst. Perhaps you've forgotten what a crappy rushing attack looks like. You also might be forgetting how valuable a blocker Gore is.
I'm all for getting guys like Hunter and Lattimore more involved, but you definitely keep Gore and he's still a phenomenal starter... just cut workload to about 60% of the carries.

No Way ......limit his touches and find ways to get Hunter, LMJ and Lattimore involved
but lean on Frank and grind away with him and pound the ball during crunch time ...that's when he is at his best

Everyone seems to be forgetting the NFC Championship game. If Gore had better production, we would have won the game. Instead, our rushing attack was non-existent, and Hunter with 3 carries out-gained Gore. We have the best run-blocking line in the NFL. Our lead RB should be far better than the average of 4.0 ypc. As it stands now, the line is carrying Gore.
Now as for the unknown, neither Hunter nor LMJ are unknown. They have both shown that they are capable of moving the chains. Lattimore is an unknown, but even if he doesn't pan out, there is still Hunter and LMJ. If Gore is on the team, Lattimore won't even be suiting up for games. We have plenty of RB talent on the game. The team would be better off cutting him and letting the youngsters have the carries. It will help their development, plus they will do a better job moving the chains.
You're also forgetting that they were playing the league's best defense and, if you watch the film, you'll see the lack of rushing success is due to the playcalling and lack of space. How is Gore or any running back expected to gain yardage on runs inbetween the tackles when there are 8-10 in the box and defenders already blanketing him by the time the handoff is made?
Come on now.
The NFCCG was 100% on predictable play calling. No doubt...not only was the defense stacked and playing down hill on every first down, they also knew WHEN to fire off the LOS b/c we always take the clock down to one second. Gore had no chance in hell...neither did our OL.
That said, Harbaugh already ushered in the new Lattimore era immediately after the NFCCG. So be prepared for the transition. If we find a back who can run inside AND outside as well as pass catch (although not used in this offense) and esp. pass protect, look out. You've just thrown some of the predictability out.

Redo his deal yes. Cut him, hell no.
His value as a pass blocker cannot be replaced this year. None of the RBs currently on the roster can even hold a candle to his pass blocking skills, at least right now.
On top of all that, Denise says no.

LOL. Actually, Hunter is a very good (and underated) pass blocker as well but you're point is still on. LOL

I really can't stand when people judge players by one game. On top of that, we're playing the game of Instant Frustration, aka IF?
IF Gore was more productive we would have won the game? Can't that be said for the entire team? IF Vernon Davis didn't fold like a labia after the Kam hit...If Carlos Rogers wasn't picking his nose on 4th down...If Goodwin didn't get raped on every pass play from stronger DTs...If Darryl Morris was playing L4 instead of Ventrone on Baldwin's big return...If Navorro Bowman didn't have his knee snapped from Eric Reid....If If If If
Even IF Gire.

Those who are raggin on "Gire" for the NFC champ are ignoring the fact that if he was used more in other situations... like against the colts, the niners win the game>the west>homefield>SB.
Gore is the man, instead of taking a pay cut I would extend him smoothing what we currently owe him over a couple more years and add a bunch of incentive based pay so that if he does get paid he earned and deserved it.
2 years ago we carried an additional RB, Gore and Lattimore can exist in the same backfield no problem.

His salary is a bargain for a player of his caliber.

No, noway, no-how.
Let his contract run out. Phase in Lattimore and have Gore teach the art of blocking from a RB perspective.

A cursory glance at our winning streak during the early-mid portion of the regular season tells you just how valuable Frank is to this team.

I'd say keep him out of respect, but if his play is dwindling then give the ball to Hunter/Lattimore 60% and Gore 40% of the time.

He's still arguably the best blitz blocker in the league. The very least that they should do is have him in there on passing downs. But, I suspect that the Niners understand something else about the way defenses play them as well. As long as they have no legitimate speedster on the outside to compliment their world-class speed tight end on the inside, defenses can play one deep safety and like Seattle loves to do, use their strong safety as a glorified extra linebacker up front. That has something to do with the inability to run.
Another thing is that we're mainly talking about playing what was one of the best defenses in NFL history. Give them the respect they deserve. But, let's remember that the Seahawk defense will have a lot less depth on their D-line next season. They won't have Red Bryant and who knows if they'll even be able to afford Bennett. That defense will go through some changes and it doesn't look like it will be for the better.

Not so sure. The reason they dont feel the urge to resign Red Bryant could be the forgotten man Jess Williams from Alabama. He was mocked by many people to the 49ers in the first round last year. They stole him in the 5th. Just sayin....
