The RB tries to shake Smith to the outside now that Smith has taken an inside move, but, Aldon did a fabulous job of squaring up once he got in the backfield and tackles the RB for a 2 yard loss.

This is really exciting play from a guy who's supposed to be a pass rush specialist. Only when it's slowed down can you truly appreciate the speed and ferocity that Smith uses in this play. The RB literally took three steps from the start of the play and Smith had diagnosed the play, beat a great LT, and was in position to make a tackle. Awesome, awesome play!
Criminally underrated aspect of his game. He's a real OLB.
he's STILL not even as good as he's going to be

just think about that for a minute
This thread will be 20 pages long fast. Awesome thread OP

I hate that bashing Roman in Niner talk has become the trendy topic. Just like how Whitner sucked last season and Dashon did nothing but hit hard and get penalties. Some spoiled ass low information arm chair wannabe gm's in here. I'm sorry but I'm sick of reading the same regurgitated garbage about how bad Roman is. I really hate reading from people who have no idea what they're even looking at on gameday.

It really isn't that simple.

Because he's better now doesn't excuse the lack of adjustments and using the talent we have.
It doesn't excuse the brain farts in certain situations.
It just doesn't Some plays are ruined do to execution and some game plans are just dumb.
What they were trying to do even if executed wasn't the right thing (run against 9 man front's and have single wideout sets for 80% of the game)

he's isn't the WORST
but he damn sure isn't getting the best using all of the tools that he has.

we're getting there possibly. we're back to moving the ball with relative ease and getting field goals again.
we just need to take that next step.

Can you do an analysis on this play?

Analysis: BEAST!

boldin beast. kaep missed a WIDE open Crabtree. instead of tossing the football at the defense, Crabtree should have threw it at kaepernicks face.

We'll let johnnyfootball break this one down but IIRC, even if Boldin got through the line, I thought I saw a LB or two waiting for him. It's a play I'd probably run inside the 20 (not with Boldin) but probably not inside the 10ish. Either way, the Bucs game is a good time to try a new wrinkle.
Gerald McCoy abused Adam Snyder so much, I'm surprised Snyder hasn't accused McCoy of bullying yet. It was disgusting to watch all game long.

Textbook edge sealing...has to be a bit careful though; if he gets pinched inside on a speedy edge RB, this is a huge gain.

I'm just saying overall not even play specific. We know he's capable of dialing up things but he just doesn't sometimes and sometimes he just does the opposite of what we should do. the game and tape shows that.

We're progressing and that's encouraging,. Hopefully we can be what we can be in the upcoming weeks to couple with the supreme defensive effort this season and get those 16 wins

Willis would've had him.

Probably...you can see the difference with Brooks too as he sets out a little wider, up field, that way, if a RB does try to bounce it outside, he can pinch him inside to the LB's. But true, when you have Willis in your hip pocket, you can feel pretty good about blowing up an OT and pinching inside for a TFL!

I was not happy when Snyder was resigned! Thought Looney or Kilgore might be better than Snyder at this point in his career.

Agreed fully, you know that! Yes, these next two weeks are big like you said b/c now we have the full arsenal back and in game mode/shape. And with the loss of the best FB in the game, we'll see how HaRoMan adjusts. Let's hope this is a blessing in disguise!

Agree I thought that Snyder was out of my nightmare's for good finally. But he's back, and I think it's time to give the other two a shot since we might not have a center next season.

Hopefully Iupati is good to go this week. Snyder gets beat badly at least 7/8 times a game, not good when we go into the playoffs.
