Yes Kyle Williams can come back from that injury and still be our deep threat. Adrian Peterson is just one example, but he didn't look like he lost speed last season coming back from a similar injury.
KW = AP
Well s**t. I guess that's all we need then lol! Let's pop the cork right now! Championship!!!
Witnessing AP recover from that ACL injury does give me hope that KW may be able to recover from that injury in similar fashion.
It doesn't change the fact that Williams was nothing special to begin with though.
Baalke should trade him to an AFC WR-needy team while there is still some value there.
Kansas City perhaps.
I wouldn't trade anybody until we know who is starter worthy. If we have somebody important go down and trade KW, we will be back to a s**t sandwich. Once we have a better idea on Ham's return, trade ideas would make more sense.
Sounds good. So let KW continue to "rest" until week 4 or 5 and then do it.

Being that LMJ is now out....had we "traded" KW we would be down 2 return guys

No way KW is ready to start game 1. He hasn't seen real game action since the injury. And while we still don't really know enough about any of the other receivers beyond Boldin to know if they can fill that #2 role, I think we know already that KW wasn't #2 quality even before the injury. We've seen flashes from Patton, Moore and Hawkins that I don't recall ever seeing from KW. Sure, it was preseason often against scrubs, but I see an IT factor there (especially with Patton and Hawkins) that I've never seen in KW. In fact, I've always found him to be a liability, even before the NFC Championship Game. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get cut, especially because by the time he's back up to speed, Manningham will be close to coming back. Plus there's no need on a team that likes to run a lot of heavy 2-3 TE sets that you need 6 WRs, especially with a guy returning from injury where his pre-injury production wasn't all that great. And Hawkins (the likely end of the bench WR) has done enough in my mind to warrant a spot.

Kyle Williams isn't getting cut, he's a serviceable receiver, decent returner, no way in hell is he a #2 WR, but as a guy that you bring in on 3rd down to provide a deep threat down the field he can be pretty useful, rotating in and out throughout the game. He's fine at the #4 spot IMO.

How did we move the ball against SD when kap was in? Yeah, short quick ones. How did going long to our deep threats in the SEA game (in SEA) in the mud, rain, wind, go when we went 3 and out from inside our 20 yrd line, for whatever reason GOING DEEP 3x? Yeah, not very dang well. And SEA gets ball on 50 and scores, then again, then again. And all because roman wanted to go long from deep in our side of the field. I could care less if we got nobody that goes long, because those passes seldom have worked for us. Sure we have some, but the ball now is being moved with short stuff. We SHOULD be talking about who can catch the ball. And right now I would say Boldin Patton Vance Vernon Baldwin. And all those guys can catch. From just PS games, it appears Vance is fast, so is Patton, same for Boldin, same for Baldwin and we know Vernon is runs a blitzing 40. Then moore, Hawkins, both fast. What is the big deal about not having a racehorse at WR, when we got a bunch of guys who are all fast....but not the one fastest guy on the field.?
Mark it down that altho Kap may throw some long balls just to keep the D on their toes and back up a bit, we aren't going to win many games going deep all game. We can utilize the stable of guys we have now and be plenty fast. All seem to have really good hands and have performed well to date. So where's the beef. When Kyle comes back ( and I like him) I believe he is going to have trouble getting his starting spot back. Sitting down here in the cheap seats, I see a lot of talent getting short shrift.. Granted KC and SD aren't much competition. But a week from Sunday we are all going to get our questions answered about WRs, and I believe we all will be pleased....altho I still don't know who they will be. You want somebody fast like JJ stokes, fine. I prefer good receivers with good hands who don't drop passes, and can get off the LOS. That is my worry...separating off LOS. First game and especially in SEA, that to me will determine if we win or not. Right now I would say Boldin, patton, and vance all are getting off LOS with no problem. I am anxious to see how the others do, incl Vernon.

Moore is absolutely a deep threat. Hell, Quinton Patton looks a lot faster on the field than people have been giving him credit for. The other night, after he faked Cromartie off his feet, he ran away from the entire Chargers secondary. Nobody was even close to gaining on him. He's a deep threat.
And Vernon Davis is more of a deep threat now than he's ever been.

Thank you, GNiels. Have to admit I am a bit puzzled where the question about our "slow" receivers came from. Man, I sure haven't seen it, and I agree with you about patton, and Vernon. I also think moore, Hawkins , are rabbit fast, and first impressions of vance are he is fast. Baldwin looked good getting off LOS and Anquan...well, the guy is fantastic, but may not win the 100 yd dash. STFW.? Our fellow webzoners seem to have short memories even for last yr. Crabs was primary target and he isn't a blazer...but he got open and caught balls...the only two things that matter. Wes Welker ? Fast ??nope, just gets open over the first down marker and makes the catch. That's my kind of receiver, and I think we got plenty of them this yr.
