Like Chad Hall but don't see keeping 7 WR's, keep either Hall or Lockette (who hasn't shown much so far).

Wouldn't write out Goodwin in favor of 2 guys without his experience.

Haven't seen enough out of Divens to make the 53.

Agree on all of this but I personally would rather have McCoy than Tolzien. At least Colt has some mobility. Both of these guys haven't looked good but Tolzien has been in the system for 2 plus years whereas McCoy just got here and will definitely improve the more comfortable he gets in the offense. I like the idea of daniels as the number 3 guy

All fair points. We haven't seen anything from Moore either but it sounds like he's a lock. I'd go more from practice reports all off season (big picture) over these pre season games esp. for a team so stacked. The most balls one player has caught thus far is McDonald with 4!

nah, none that I see. Not sure if Tolzien is PS eligible or not. He could be. Not 100% sure.

Don't think he is eligible anymore...don't think they'd even bring him back anyhow.

Thanks, I updated correctly. ^

No problem, any time.

do not see him alot but sounds like he sure did play well vs kansas city. we have gotten good play from the rookies so far and would be a shame if some got cut strictly due to numbers,, wish we could bring back the old days when you kept more than 53

Agreed. I just don't think moody is one of the best 53 and the coaching staff and front office has already shown a willingness to keep extra numbers at positions if they think that player is better. Not saying he couldn't help the team and wouldn't be a good special teams player. This is just a gut feeling I have.

I've seen the opposite. He played well in the pre-season, transitioned well to a new position (from S in college) quickly, and was a mid-round (5) pick. I think he showed more than what was expected, and your base expectation for a 5th round pick is to make the team.

3 QB- Kaepernick, McCoy, Daniels
* Niners may upgrade that #2 spot if possible, gotta keep Daniels safe on the 53 as the #3

5 RB/FB- Gore, James, Hunter, Dixon, Miller
* I thought Hampton would take Dixons spot, but doesnt look that way

6 WR- Boldin, Moore, Williams, Baldwin, Collie, Patton
* The question is, who gets cut when Mario comes back, I'll predict they put Patton on the IR with a phantom injury

3 TE- Davis, McDonald, Celek
* Doubt we see any changes here

8 OL- Staley, Iupati, Kilgore, Boone, Davis, Snyder, Looney, Goodwin
* I have Kilgore winning the job at center, but Goodwin is kept as insurance

4 S- Reid, Whitner, Spillman, Dahl
* Robinson will be a tough cut, Im hoping we find a way to keep 5

5 CB- Rogers, Brown, Asomugha, Brock, Cox
* Niners PuP Wright to protect

9 LB- Willis, Bowman, Smith, Brooks, Haralson, Wilhoite, Skuta, Lemonier, Johnson
* I think we carry one extra to protect Johnson

7 DL- Smith, Williams, McDonald, Dobbs, Dorsey, Tukuafu, Carradine
* Dial PuP'd or IR'd

3 ST- Lee, Dawson, Jennings

PS- Thomas, Moody, Okoye, Cooper, Bykowski, Netter, Gray, Hampton

Only thing I would change on the 53 is remove Cam Johnson, and add a CB. If they deem Wright ready, he's the 6th. If not, I'd personally keep Morris until Wright is activated.
Just had to update mine on page 25, post #370 (practice squad too).

Here are my roster projections.

They are fairly non-controversial. notables are that Tolzien gets cut, Daniels makes the squad, and Garrett Celek gets cut.

I have us keeping a lot of LBs to start the season until Manningham, Crabtree, Tank, Dial (maybe), and Lattimore (highly improbable) get healthy.

Chad Hall will be cut immediately upon Manningham's return.

I think Celek will make the team regardless. Collie is as good as cut IMO; the Niners may keep him until week 7 when Mario comes back, but eventually I think the WR corps will be:

Crabby, Boldin, Mario, Baldwin, Williams & Patton (if they keep 6 WR). If they only keep 5, I don't know whom they'd cut.
Eric Wright?
Need another TE. One injury to Davis or McDonald drastically alters our offense. I think we keep Celek. Gray to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Marlon Moore is going to make the team IMO. I just can't ignore the fact he gets starter treatment in the pre-season games. He's ahead of both Hall and Collie on the depth chart. Reports from camp indicate he's the 3rd receiver behind Boldin and Williams. He has special teams ability as well.
We WILL have a qb on the practice squad. I think Tolzien will get that prize.
