maybe drop dobbs for skuta

Potentially. I think 6 DL is the number we should have when Dial and Tank are back, with the main 4, Justin, McDonald, Ian and Dorsey.

Id really like some feedback, thanks

i dont think all of them will make the PS, but i can hope

Not bad at all...quite a few issues (low numbers in some areas). See my post #322 on the previous page for comparisons. Some things stand out such as there is no Brent Celek, etc. But overall, it's as good as the rest! And like ours, may continue to flow as more information comes out over these next few weeks. And don't forget, HarBaalke always have a few "head scratchers" in every 53 the past 2 years.

NC, Austin Collie out performed all the WR not named Boldin. He ran super clean routes, made a couple nice catches. The 8 yard catch in the dirt on a bad throw from Tolzein was one that sticks in my mind. Then the 18 yard 4th down conversion on the very next play. He could and I think he will end up being the #2 behind Boldin. He's the most solid receiver we have on this roster besides 81.

Agreed he played well out of the gate...but here are my thoughts on Collie in another thread:

Man, the more I think about it, the less I think we need Collie...hear me out.
X = Marlon Moore / Ricardo Lockette
Y (slot) = Kyle Williams / Quinton Patton
Z = Anquan Boldin / Kassim Osgood; Mario Manningham & Michael Crabtree (PUP)

Note: AJ Jenkins could be that #7 who could can line up at all 3 WR positions while Manningham and Crabtree are shelved. I noticed we ran a 5-WR set last game (granted both James/Miller were in the mix, with 2 TE's and 1 WR, I believe). Personally, I think AJ would be abused outside.

So here is my question. How many slot WR's do we need? Right now, Williams is ideal for the slot but will play out wide a large part to start the year opening the slot up for Jenkins/Patton. Also, in the RZ specifically, Boldin will slide inside to the slot. Then, Manningham should be back in 2 months and HE is a slot WR also. And don't forget, both VD and McDonald will run out of the slot as well.

What we don't have right now are guys that can take the top off ala Moss (critical to our underneath passing game last year); this is also critical to Boldin's game as well. The only two guys who can do this is Moore and Lockette at the X (hopefully Jenkins at some point). Osgood would be a good backup behind Boldin and on ST. Both Moore & Lockette are also excellent ST gunners. Collie adds no ST value and has serious injury issues. So, even if healthy, where does Austin Collie really fit into our type of offense esp. when we are very thin outside? And even if he makes it, is he temporary until Manningham comes back?

Very elaborate question for what might be a very simple answer. Despite the way you are attempting to categorize them, Collie might just be a much better Wr then guys like Moore and Lockette.

It was a toss up between Celek and Gray for me. We do need a LS....remember that Garcia led comeback against the giants in the playoffs? I don't see Scheplar, Divens or Osgood making the team. Some teams carry no FB's, i don't think we need 2. If we play 3 DL in our base package and 2 DL in nickel and dime. I think 5 DL should be sufficient with everyone playing until Tank and Dial are healed up. He has played for 10 years and has played so little WR, i don't see him making an impact aside from special teams and that means someone else would need to be inactive.

I think they can get by with 5 til they are healthy

Thanks nat...that very well may end up being the case; and how far along those two are (plus age, upside, etc.); some very tough decisions. No doubt Collie is going to be giving it everything he's got. Love the competition. Also, another way I tend to look at the roster is in terms of who we will be facing...would you rather have a guy like Collie on Dick Sherman or Lockette/Moore?

I like Collie, but Marlon Moore impressed me more. He can play STs, and a effective WR.

I think Gray and Garrett Celek could both make it. Probably at expense of Dixon. Who also impressed me, and I am not a Dixon fan. I wish he would do this in the reg season and when it counts. When it's 3rd and 1, he gets stuffed. I also hope Tukuafu is gone, I want no part of that jumbo package anymore, doesnt work. Let Miller play FB like he should, and let Gore, Hunter, James and Kap run with the ball.

Me too! I've gone back and forth twice already. LS is still a real question for me esp. with both Kilgore and Looney doing shot gun snaps constantly from the Q-formation. Is there a guy who can do that AND cover kicks as well? Hmmm. Can we "save" that roster spot and $ for another position. I'm torn on Goodwin as well. You mentioned some of my outside guys (for now) of Scheplar, Divens or Osgood. Agree...bubbles for me and all specialists. Scheplar adds youth, ST ability and security in case Miller goes down (heavy run team); Divens helps in short yardage, goal line and against the bigger, more powerful OL's we face with great running games and Osgood is the reliable 3rd down WR, RZ asset and ST gunner. And yeah, 5 DL...agree. It genuinely sounds like Tank/Dial are done for the year so maybe that opens up a spot for Divens esp. with Dobbs on the shelf for game 1. Some REALLY tough calls and I'm trying my best to think HarBaalke-like here...and it's not easy; which isn't always a bad thing!

Oddly enough, Dixon converted 100% of his short yardage conversion attempts last season.

The list looks good but I really think Manningham ,Dial and Caradine are on the pup and Moore, Tukuafu and Either Cam Johnson or Lockette get the nod for those spots. I also still think Celek wins the job and Darryl Mooris could sneak in somewhere. While I think Dahl make the 53 he doesn't do much for me would love to see someone step up and take that spot.
Anyone think McDonald isn't injured and this is a ploy to get more looks from Celek and Gray as the H-back? Goodwin injured for Kilgore/Looney...so on and so forth. I know this is a common tactic but was just curious what you guys thought.

I think that certainly may be the case with Goodwin. Not sure about McDonald. I would want my rookie tight end to get as many reps as possible, even if he has been blowing it up and you know he can play.

Not gonna bench a rookie in order to see what others can do during the preseason.
