Is Baalke waiting for Asomugha and Woodsons price to drop?

Woodson would help us out as a one year rental ...we could use his pass coverage skills in our base defense if he played FS, which would make our pass defense tougher to crack

Woodson isnt what he used to be in coverage anymore though he works best in safety blitz situations. Nnamdi needs to prove he is still a solid cover corner.

true ...but his cover skills are above average for a free safety , granted he cant lower the boom like Goldson did, but he could blanket TE's, cover slot receivers in our base defense, and blitz the Qb on 3rd and long .....his experience is also a plus
Simple answer to this string is yes.
Coverage skills are more important than lowering the boom these days, and even more so in the future as clearly the game will be changing. You want a couple of Dion Sanders out there more than simply fierce hitters. Ronnie Lott could do both, but even his skills might not be so sought after in the near future.

There would always be room for another ronnie lott on this team. Doubt we ever find anyone else like him ever but if we did even in the future we would be welcomed.

Of course you are totally correct. I mis-used Lott as an example of a skill set because people do wrongly associate him only with the big hit, rather than his overall coverage skills. Clearly he could do it all and would be a #1 pick and HOF player in any era.

Of course signing all-star type DBs would be great, but not if it impacted getting a superstar type defensive guy up front.

yes............

While this is true i would still like a corner who can at least eliminate one receiver from the radar if our pass rush is hampered by an injury.
He's waiting for them to get older.
My guess is this is about guaranteed money. They probably also want guarantees about being the starters at their respective positions. Baalke is probably giving them neither.
I'm pretty sure the 49ers have their offer out to Nnamdi and Woodson...

...they just need to see if it's the best they'll get.

If they could get better, they'd have already done it by now.

of course this the truth. the niners know exactly how much they are willing to shell out for them and there will be no bidding war for them.

pretty sure they received some numbers from other teams already. It's about going to the right team now
Maybe the Revis situation has an effect on the Nnamdi situation. Teams that wanted Revis, may find the trade price is too high and may turn to get Nnamdi instead. Yes -- it's you Tampa Bay. Those guys down there need to get their s**t together and make a decision.

the jets are the ones who are f**king nuts. when a doormat like tampa bay starts to lose patience that does not say much for your team

Me teenks so too babalooe!

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock .... With 14 picks maybe the 49er's can trade up and trade that for Revis. Da big question is his HEALTH! Do they want to take that gamble?

In the meantime ...back at the ranch ... the Saints are dangling some moola in front of Nnamdi and he may just take it instead of waiting for the slow 9er's.
