Neither. Going 2-14 with clowns for coaches/owners and getting the #1 pick in a weak draft hurts the most.

Superbowl didn't think Jim would have turn us around so fast. It was within reach but let it go....

Actually you didn't hand it over. Even if we don't recover that fumble and you had kept possession, you wouldn't have scored anyway. You lost to NY Giants in NFCCG because we were the better team. You handed us nothing.

I feel the same way.
Last year we should've defeated the Giants if it wasn't for those fumbled and muffed punts. I couldn't even glance at the Super Bowl cuz I felt the niners should've been there playing the Patriots instead of the G Men.
The Super Bowl was no doubt hard to swallow, but it was easier to accept cuz the 9ers were fortunate to have been able to get back in the game after being down 22 points in the 2nd half of the game. The 9ers started off slow in the first half of the previous two playoff games so I realized that it finally caught up with them in the Super Bowl.

Even without the fumbles and muffed punts, 49ers still would've lost the game. You guys weren't exactly tearing it up on offense.
Why does it always have to be "we were the better team and would've won if not for this or not for that" or "the better team didn't win." San Farancisco 49ers lost to NY Giants because NY Giants were a better team that day. San Francisco 49ers lost to Baltimore Ravens because Baltimore Ravens were a better team that day. It is amazing that folks are screaming injustice on that non PI call when it was Crabtree that initiated the contact. If anything, it was offensive PI. Just feel lucky the lights went out and then Ngata got injured because if those two thingsa didn't happen, 49ers were gonna be blown out.

We don't know what would of happened. But we did HAND you the game with a punt return fumble in our zone. Did you think you earned that FG or something?
If Giants had fumbled the same, you would have handed us the game.

We weren't
"tearing it up on offense" in the game vs. the Giants, but we HAD THE LEAD up until Kyle Williams' turnovers. And since that's factual, I have more weight in stating that we would've won if it wasn't for our turnovers than what u have stating that we would still would lost anyways.
Kyle Williams literally just gave the Giants the football, that doesn't make the Giants
"the better team".
I believe the 49ers were going to come back if there never were a power outage. 49ers had too much talent. They proved they are capable of coming back from behind vs the Falcons and they sure would've done it against the Ravens anyways also. If it wasn't for La'Michael James foolishly fumbling the ball, it would've been a different outcome.
Pats fan here.
Don't give a crap about what you guys think about the team.
But NO Super Bowl loss will ever sting more than Super Bowl 42.
1. 19-0. Yes, I can understand the pride in your undefeated Super Bowl record, but we had high hopes of being the first 19-0 team.
2. Super Bowl loss on Brady's record. I'll admit that if BB wasn't our head coach, I would hate him. But Brady is beloved in NE. People call him arrogant, but he's no more arrogant than players guaranteeing victories, predicting scores, etc etc. I like Kaep a lot, but you guys all have to admit, if Brady kissed his biceps/nonexistant tats after TDs he would get ripped. Same thing with Rodgers championship belt. Really, just one instance against Suggs where he called for a flag and now people say he calls for flags every time he gets hit. Anyways, I'm sure most of you hate Brady, but imagine Montana getting into a 5th Super Bowl and then lose it. That's what it feels like seeing the best QB of your franchise's history losing the big game.
3. Spygate. Whatever effect you think Spygate had, and whether you honestly believe the Pats were the only team doing it has become moot point. "Pats haven't won a Super Bowl since spy gate" is the biggest thorn to any Pats fan, and that argument could've ended that night. Instead, it's 5 years later and I'm still hearing about it.
4. Rival City. Losing a regular season game against an NY team sucks. Magnify it a 1000 times in the Super Bowl.
I'll tell you what. For some reason, being losers of the Big game is perceived as worse than losing in any other playoff run. Rival fans will revel in the fact that you lost the big game, despite the fact they got eliminated much sooner.
If it makes you feel better, be glad that you're not a Pats fan. Nothing was worse than losing Super Bowl 42. Losing to the same team and the same dopey QB 4 years later was just adding insult to injury. Call me a spoiled fan. But losing seasons are disappointing. Losing Super Bowls is heartbreaking.
I was at the stick last year and at the superdome this year. To me the superbowl lost hurt more. Had we won that game, we'd be at the top of the mountain on a high through next season. If we had won the giants game last year, there is no guarantee we would have won the superbowl 46. With that said, I have higher hopes after this year than I did after last year.
Another reason why it hurts more now is that this superbowl loss just compounds itself on the prior NFC Championship game loss...

i have been lurking on the zone since 05 and this is my first post( i think). i had to post bc i am having a hard time getting over this one.i need to get this game off my chest. i am not going to lie this one hurt even more than the last year. last year they were better than the giants...but who knows if they beat NE but to be so close and not finish hurt...but this was on the biggest stage and for victory number six...the perfect 5-0 record was on the line...the 9ers were clearly the better team when they wanted to be...they do not show up till the third quarter???? i did not understand that...and when did the defense regress so much??? when did they let so many holes open up and just get torched in the secondary??? now all i see is that one after the 5 and i will get used to it in time but it sucks...i am mad mostly at the fact that they just cant finish the job...last year and this year they have shown they can not finish the job... and that has me worried. now i have to hear ray lewis and his religious speech all day on the tv....all those pass plays on the last drive and when they got that turnover... alot of it went wrong and i dont know whose fault it is and i dont care...no one even needs to really read this post...i just needed to vent somewhere to feel better...the 9ers are my team always and forever...it just sucks to lose.

We lost to that dopey QB who got away with several bad throws last year.
This is most surely heartbreaking. First time and all.

But you didn't lose to that dopey QB in the biggest game...TWICE. Anytime we lose to a Manning it sucks. Anytime we lose to an NY team it sucks. Anytime we lose a Super Bowl it sucks. When it's all wrapped into one, it hurts like hell. When it happens again....then I have no words
I know you guys are pissed, but if the NFL goes on another 100+ years, odds are that you would've lost at least one Super Bowl eventually. Pats could go 18-0 again and make a push for 19-0, but it wouldn't be feel the same as it did 2007. And we still have spygate hanging over us.
It's heartbreaking, but your team should be on the upswing.

True. That must of sucked man. On the brink of history. We had a similar situation in the early 90s. We were going for a three peat and had the lead with little time left. Roger Craig fumbled and Giants drove down and kicked a FG instead, killing the shot at a three peat and history.
But i think going 18-1 would be the worst pain. I bet you guys figuered you would win by at least 21 huh? I sure did. LOL
That doofus has strange luck i tellz yah. I've seen him pull more miricle plays out of his ass and escape interceptions then any QB since Favre.
