WOW...that is irony from a year ago....

Talk about a role reversal from last year. Amazing indeed. Defense definitely exposed and that ST TD was a killer. Game Over.

I know Roman's play calling was suspect at the end, but lets be honest, we lost the game in the 1st half. We ended up losing by 3 in the end and we would have been ahead had we not made those mistakes. LMJ fumble would have resulted in either 3 or 7 points, we were driving. Instead the Ravnes get the ball and score. The Kaep INT resulted in points for Ravens and then there was the Kickoff Return. All 3 resulted in points for the Ravens that were uncharacteristic moves by the Offense and Special Teams. So the defensive Secondary gets exposed due to the costly mistakes of the Offense/Special Teams. Not trying to shift the blame from Roman on the final drive, just stating an opposing view.
Did we score a TD in the first half? Roman sucks
Last I looked Kaep and LMJ turned the ball over. That isn't Roman's fault.

Ummmmm, like the Falcons game, we didnt start playing until after half-time! This has to be fixed next year. I haven't seen a team lay down in the 1st half in the playoffs regularly since the Rams 10-12 years ago!

we lost because of defense and special teams. in 2011 defense and special teams were the strength of the team and we lost the NFC title game because of offense and KW fumbles of course.
in 2012 the offense became the strength ( despite the James fumble) and the defense and special teams became weak links.
This is why it is so hard to win a Super Bowl or become a dynasty--nothing stays the same season to season-- a unit can lose it quickly.

The dominos just all fell in the Ravens direction every single time this game, never seen anything like it. I'm just numb, we were the better team, and should have won, but didn't. Just.. wow..

Immaturity versus maturity. Baltimore had a huge edge on experience and demeanor. While Moss was claiming he was king of the world, Culliver was emoting bigoted thoughts, CK was kissing his bicep and patenting his name...Lewis, Flacco, Reed and all were getting ready to play. Not the end of the world but the 9ers are where the Ravens were several years ago and need to grow up. This should be a huge step in that process.
The first play of the game...a penalty? Really? Disappointing but I feared the Ravens more than any other playoff team because of their ability to match the 9ers physically and they had guys like Reed who come up big at important moments.
The look in many of the niners eyes after the first quarter was one of confusion and perhaps fear...as in "I don't want to lose" not "don't hurt me." They are tough guys and I expect them to bounce back.
I am totally bummed that the niners have lost a Super Bowl and a niner QB has thrown an interception in a Super Bowl...but compared to global problems...no big deal!

Almost like Harbaughs comment earlier this season, "It's not impossible to throw the ball when your helmet is turned and you're looking out the side of the ear hole, but it makes it a lot harder", buts more like its not impossible to tackle someone when staring at the top of your helmet but it does make it alot harder. lol
Pretty much...and it was pretty blatant..I don't know how he got away with it..the guy's helmet shifted.

s**t happens in games, its a new lesson for our young team. The refs are just a much your opponant as the team across the line from you. You can't rely on them cuz if you do you'll get burned.

From a Ravens fan, reasons Niners lost:
1. Disappeared in the 1st half. That put too much pressure on your offense, which they nearly overcame, but that was too much to expect them to overcome.
2. Your inadequate pass coverage/lack of pass rush. Flacco was hitting you hard down the field.
Other than that, the Niners came to play. Yes, there were penalties that weren't called, but that happened consistently the whole game, you knew the refs were going to hold their whistles in this type of game as they always have, and you only remember the instances where your team failed to make the play.
49ers are well positioned to win a Super Bowl soon. Could even be '13.

It doesn't matter. Really. It sounds cliche, and you've heard this 1000 times, but all the guys can do is learn from these mistakes.
