Does anyone still believe that we will win the SB this season?

I could make a similar argument about Kaep: he's had two great games (Bears, Pats), one decent game (Saints) and the rest are all mediocre (Rams x2, Dolphins and Seahawks).

I agree, but it is more than that. Smith has shown that he can handle the pressure of a playoff run. Harbaugh took a bit risk in going with Kaep knowing full well that this team was on a Superbowl run considering that it got to the NFC Championship game last year. Putting a second year player in at QB with zero experience was/is ballsy. I've said this repeatedly that I hope it works out but so far I'm less than confident in that.

That implies that Alex led us to several playoff victories in the past. The Niners have won ONE playoff game with Alex. In that game the Niners defense forced SIX turnovers and it still came down to a final drive at the end. The following week Alex choked and Harbaugh started shopping for a new starting qb.

It would have been risky to leave Alex as the starter after Kaepernick came in and played so well.
Anyone feeling anxiety over Alex getting benched should go watch our blowout loss to the giants (at home) and getting our asses kicked by the Vikings (road game) or better yet go watch last years NFC Championship loss to the Giants.
I didn't think we would even make it to the SB at the beginning of this season. Kaep has given me more confidence in what this team can accomplish; but, I still think were a year away from #6.

Thank you. I don't know why so many here act like Alex has this fantastic postseason record or that he's proven himself in the postseason. And mind you, NO had the worse defense in all of football last year so there's that.

and to top it all off their D coordinator was all out blitzing while holding the lead, who does that ?

but I dont wonna take anything away from Alex that was his finest hour. I was at that game and will forever remember it.
Good point about the Saints defense. They were terrible. Ranked 24th overall.

I lost my voice cheering in that game. It was awesome!!! But when using that game as evidence that Alex gives us the best chance to win playoff games it's important to note hpw bad that Saints defense was and the high number of turnovers the Niners defense forced in the game.

We forced no turnovers the next week and the offense stalled. Coincidence? I think not. Alex flat out choked in the 4th qtr and OT of the Championship game. The game tape doesn't lie.
you guys are all making valid points about AS and Kap but their bad performances all come from playcalling. we need to shop around for a new OC next year for sure

haha i missed the Saints game but made it to the NFCC.

Offense was bad. Passes were way off target and at people's feet in that game. Guys were open and being missed. It was miserable. Even the running game had lanes and were getting tripped up by hand tackles.

Despite all that, we could of won....

If we can get the 2nd seed, obviously our chances are WAYY better. I seriously think Minn can beat GB in Minn with a playoff spot on the line and AP going for the record...it all points to huge momentum for Minn.

If we can somehow get that bye, I think Justin Smith might be able to play in the divisional game. If he can't, I'm positive he'd play by the conference game if we make it out.

This would be our dream scenario. Also, the game is in the dome which is huge. Hard to win in there.

GB has a lot to fight for as well with that bye week on the line.

GO Minnn

GO Niners

Yea GB won't be sleeping either on Sunday. But they have huge holes as well. They can't run the ball that well and they're middle of the pack on D overall (esp against the run). If Minnesota can establish the run and keep Rodgers off the field, I see a 2 TD victory for them. Minnesota actually had a great chance to win the 1st game in GB if not for Ponder throwing 2 INTs in key situations. If he can manage the game, they got a legit shot.

Man would that 2 seed help us out right now....
