49ers eyeing ex-Eagle McCoy for special teamsThe 49ers are giving former Eagles linebacker Matt McCoy a physical today, and they could sign him to their active roster as soon as this afternoon. The team has a roster opening after running back Brandon Jacobs was suspended for three games. The 49ers also have a need for a special teams player after Demarcus Dobbs went down with a knee injury on Sunday. Interest in McCoy first was reported by CSN Bay Area.McCoy's physical is not cursory. While with the Seahawks in 2011, he suffered a serious knee injury that ended his season. The 6-0, 232-pound linebacker has been working out in his native San Diego this season. McCoy, 30, was a second-round pick by the Eagles in 2005. He had his best season a year later when he started 10 games and finished with 66 tackles, two sacks and three forced fumbles. He also has played for the Saints, Buccaneers and Seahawks. He was a special teams standout for Seattle and also was part of their nickel defense when he was injured last year. After Sunday's game, Jim Harbaugh said Dobbs "may have dodged a bullet" regarding his injury. On Monday, he said the team was awaiting the results of an MRI on Dobbs.-

Not trying to be funny here , but I remember those two hits being pretty vicious ....but McCoy was a solid ST player , he would be a good pickup for special teams, we need ST to be as solid as can be for the playoffs
