Released. No question. Probably start for a team that drafts a qb in the 1st round.

Thats if colin keeps playing like last week for the rest of the season. On the plus we get rid of alex would have money to sign some people back, question is does colin keep playing at a high level enough to keep alex on the bench thats tough question, alex is a 100+ qb rating type qb!

Released and running for his life behind one of the NFL's 3 worst offensive lines, either in Philly or Arizona.

If we can trade him we will trade him. If not he ill be released.
My personal thoughts on landing spots would be Philly, Oakland, Arizona, KC. In that order.
No matter where he lands i wish him the best and will always remember his playoff performance over the bad years. He will awlays remain a 49er in my eyes.

He will be released very likely. Because his salary option is a little high and we need the cap room. There is always the possibilty that he comes back to be a high end backup for us at a reduced salary. Don't discount this possibility. That would give us 2 good QB's. Never a bad thing in the NFL. Plus he likes Harbaugh, knows the system, the players and apparently doesn't like to move. It takes him multiple years to learn a new system so he may want to stay with this one.

I would like to see him back, but i think he can be a starter somewhere else. I dont see him taking another paycut to be a backup, and i dont think we will keep him at the salary he would receive next season. Thats money that can go to signing Goldson or Bowman.

Makes me wish we would've won the SB even more last year. He worked to build this team, and didn't even get a ring.

He may want to start elsewhere.
There is another possibilty and we are getting ahead of ourselves. Kaep may struggle and we may go back to Smith. Harbuagh even said he isn't opposed to doing that. We saw 1 good game. Matt Flynn had 1 good game. So what? We need to see this over more time. I like Kaep and believe in him and he is exciting. I'm just saying don't get ahead of ourselves yet. Alex may still reclaim the starting role this year and have it next year too. Now that depends how Kaep plays. If he plays lights out then Alex is done with us. Unless he wants to backup.
