i have huge worries with this offensive line and I feel they did nothing to fix it in the off season. they tried with the linebacker thing but the kids got hurt. i think the free agent they signed is a sound move. a good vet who does not have to play all the time. i actually thought they were going to sign julian peterson for the same reason when he came to visit a couple weeks ago. good move but yes,, i got some worries about the offensive line. I refuse to think we will be better just cuz we cut two bums from last year

Not that I saw. The signing is only a rumor at this point.

ok, thank you! hey in another post I saw you were excited for alex and this year but excited for the future due to Ck. i really appreciate good people like you who are not ignoring this year just cuz they "think" Ck will take over down the road . we have a chance to do some special things this year and i am just a little sad that some posters ( not you) seem to be losing focus of that. anyway back to topic,. I hope they sign this guy cuz we clearly need someone
By now you'd think Baalke's moves would be above question...he listens to Harbaugh, who listens to his coord's. That's the way it should work...and it is.

Thanks, Bro! It makes it easy for me because I trust Baalke and Harbaugh so much. When I see good things on the field, it just reinforces it! DYNASTY!

I'm not exactly excited about Haggans, but they do need to sign someone. Cardinals fans couldn't wait to get rid of him from what I understand.

If he's healthy, having a vet instead of a rookie is good, though. Plus, what do Cardinals fans know?

I think we are fine. Davis will backup G and T, either directly or indirectly. G goes down, Davis goes in. T goes down, Boone goes to T, Davis to G. Another T goes down, Davis goes to T, Kilgore goes to G. Remember, both Davis and Kilgore will be active on gameday. Additionally, Davis played T for his first few seasons in the league. He's probably not quick enough to be a starter at tackle, but he's good enough as a 3rd stringer.
Hopefully haggans doesnt have to start but only spell the other 3 OLBs. He has played and started on some pretty good defenses so hopefully he can set the edge and help out in the run game. And who knows maybe playing off the rest of our front 7 he can make enough of an impact at a very thin position for us
I like the signing. Going into the season with only 3 OLB is dangerous. But where do we make room? O-line, LB, Safety, CB, Specialists, FB, and QB are all out of the question. That leaves RB, WR, TE, and D-line. The only place we make room and the RB position is with Brandon Jacobs. Gore, Hunter, and James are locks. Dixon is a lock in my mind given we traded away Colin Jones and released Rock, and his diversity as a back. I think it's highly unlikely we make room for Haggans at the WR position, but I guess it's possible. Garrett Celek is the only TE that could be a realistic casualty of this signing. But with JH's love for TE's I doubt this is were we make the room. That leaves the D-line. McDonald, Smith, Sopoaga, and Ricky Jean are locks. This leaves Dobbs, Williams, and Tukuafu as possible casualties. Of those 3 I think Tukuafu is the safest. What Tukuafu did in the preseason leaves me to believe he isn't going anywhere. He is gonna be pretty devastating, to say the least, for defenses in short yardage situations. In my mind Williams and Dobbs are equal in their vulnerability in a Haggans signing.

So, to me, Jacobs, Dobbs, and Williams (in that order) are most at risk of getting the ax. And if I had to pick I'd say that Jacobs could be the odd man out.

Why not Celek, McBath, Brock. players who barely factor into our plans and would be inactive on game days anyway. Saying Jacobs or Dobbs would be cut is almost laughable, they are huge factors into our game plans and Williams didnt survive final cuts for nothing, he has to much promise to risk exposing to waivers.

Probably will be inactive whenever the top 3 are healthy. Depth only, IMO.

I think they cut whichever backup safety fails to distinguish himself, or the might cut loose Celek if they really view Dobbs as a legit #3 TE. I don't think Celek would be claimed on waivers, and they could keep him easily on the PS.

Yeah, I disagree. Nolan didn't even know Kevin Green.

I honestly thought that all of our safeties already distinguished themselves. They made the team. The only safety you can make an argument for is McBath, but I don't see it happening. And if JH & Co. thought of Dobbs as a "legit" TE they would have listed him as such. Finally, I doubt Celek would last a day on the PS unless our FO paid him big money to stay there. In a league increasingly utilizing the TE Celek would have no problem making a team.

They listed Dobbs as a TE on the last two depth charts. They had no way of knowing how healthy he was before cutdowns, since yesterday was the first time he got back on the field since his injury. Celek was undrafted for a reason. He had 14 career receptions at Michigan State, and he is not at all fast. He is an adequate blocker, and both is hands and sense of zone coverages were pleasant surprises, but it is unlikely that any GMs cursed the Niners when they secured Celek after the draft. I look at him as a cheaper, younger Peele.

As of Wednesday, Fangio had stated that the backups had not impressed him. Robinson and McBath made one significant play each in that game. If one had been head and shoulders above the other, I believe we would have kept only one of those two guys.
