I could care less if you donate or not (I personally think there are some that are a little needier than Billy, but that's just my opinion) but man, try and at LEAST stop and have some empathy before you just lambast this poor guy for things we have little information about. It astounds me how so many of us immediately jumped to the "he has no life, he's a deadbeat" camp right away.

Coming from a 49ers fan site based out of San Francisco, it is funny to see how little empathy there really is from this demographic.

What is there to empathize for? Sand blasted in the foot so you don't work? Boo hoo, look at me and my poor fat lazy ass spending the better part of a work week, most of that time standing on my allegedly injured foot, attending the draft which is something most Niners fans neeeeever get to do.

Hey im poor and have suffered from circumstance. The WZ should pitch in and send me to the draft next year.........

Do I sense a bit of jealousy there?

Hell yes you do. I had to work all week to support my family, aaaand helped pay for that guy to not only support his, but to go to the draft as well.

lol Do you have any idea how bad a nerve injury can hurt? Like I said in a post above, it's not fair to judge the guy if you don't know his situation. He could be on pain pills all day. I've heard that a foot injury can be one of the most painful injuries you can have. The guy used to work a tough job, it's not like he just doesn't want to work or thinks "OH YEAH, I GET TO LEECH OFF WININER'S TAX MONEY ALL WEEK. TIME TO GO TO THE STORE AND BUY BOOZE AND SOME CHEETOS SO I CAN WATCH TV ALL WEEK LOL, LEAVE ME ALONE EVERYBODY BECAUSE I JUST WANT TO FAP TO INTERNET PORN ALL DAY." I mean he goes to one event for 2 or 3 days a year, do you expect him to never leave the house and to just not do anything at all? He does as much as he can. If he could work he most likely would, it's not like you get that much money on disability. I'm just going to be real honest here, you sound petty as hell. You're jealous of a guy who worked for a long time and f**ked up his foot and is in a lot of pain all day and can't do his job anymore, and also doesn't get that much money. Just be glad you CAN go to work and do the stuff you do, and that you CAN do stuff without agonizing pain. You lack compassion and empathy, which in my opinion makes you a deficient human being.

Tell it to someone who didn't require surgery as the result of a on the job injury. My employer at the time brought in a professional injury doctor (the type that work for the insurance companies) which resulted in severely reduced benefits. I got paid $30 a week for 8 months half of which went to my exwife for child support, until I was finally able to win my claim and get the surgery I needed. $60 a month was my sole income, yet couldn't get another job until my surgery was performed, unless I wanted to abandon my claim due to the laws in my state. $60 a month with a woman and 2 kids to support.

All of this was posted in threads on these here boards if you would like to dig it up.

I can't do what I did before and have permanent damage so guess what I did? Now this is going to be really far out there, but I went and got a job doing something else.

The OP clearly states dudes been on disability for "Years", and nerve damage happens to be 100% "patient experience" diagnosis. "It hurts here doc".

If you can endure the pain enough to stand in line for HOURS, which is exactly what you have to do at a free event like the draft in NY city, and then likely spend several more hours on his feet if he wanted any view at all of the stage, all of which the OP seemed to indicate he had done before, then he can endure it long enough to get a friken job doing something other than painting bridges and buy his own stinkin ticket to a Niners game

Excuse me for sounding "petty as hell".

If he can stand in line for 10 hours his foot isnt that bad. Lots of people get on disability that dont need it.

can you sit down at the draft? I don't see why you guys are so eager to chime in and hate on the guy. He's not ASKING for a donation, Nick just thought it would cool to help him out. He got interviewed and gave his answer on why/how he was there. Nothing more nothing less. I really feel bad for the guy that he even answered and talked to the interviewer because now there's a bunch of people going "OMG WHAT A LEACH f**k THAT GUY HE DOESN'T NEED IT I AINT HELPING HIM WHAT A DEADBEAT LOSER GOSH OMG". He didn't do anything to deserve that type of treatment.

He can sit inside but in line for 10 hours would be hard on a f**ked up foot, the weight and pressure would be unbearable if it was that bad. Nothing stopping him from getting a desk job but the fact that he would lose govt money and many prefer to stay on assistance for that reason. Some need help, others ask but don't need it and its a fact of life. My uncle (by marriage) is an attorney and got his brother on full disability.....he doesn't need it.

Well that's your personal situation, that's different than other people's. One reason he may be on disability with his situation is that his background is in construction, now he can't do that anymore, so he could take a desk job, but the job market's not great right now, and I believe with disability you get health coverage of some sort, and if he were to go off disability he'd lose that, which he needs right now. My uncle's on partial disability with a bad back and he does some stuff but there's no way he could work a full time job. But he still tries to do some stuff and drown out the pain with pain killers+alcohol(which is going to end up killing him some day because of liver failure). I mean everyone's situation is different dude, you really shouldn't judge this guy. It's one thing for him to go do it once per year vs having to show up to a job for 9 hours per day 5 times per week for the majority of the year. It's possible he just couldn't physically hold up doing that, and trying might be too big of a risk for him to take right now.

He's been on disability for "years" so its not like the market has just affected him. He has free time apparently, he can go to a job training facility and learn something new that allows him to sit so his foot doesn't hurt. He had a job for years and never paid his way to a game...and tickets were a lot cheaper back in the day.

Because honestly I feel like that's what you guys are doing. Nobody's asking you to help if you don't want to, but you don't need to get other people to try not to help him either. Come on man.

You dont know the extent of the injury so assuming he is this poor cripple is naive, he STOOD IN LINE FOR 10 HOURS. And when you dont live in SF you take what ever chance you get to see the 9ers play. Last time they came to FL, I was there, next time they come I will be there. Lots of fans never get a chance to see thier team, just because this guy hurt his foot years ago doesnt mean he deserves to see them now. I'm super broke and cant afford to see them play this year...fly my ass out to see a game.
If you don't wanna chip in, do we have to hear other people's sob stories ?

Just don't give any money.

This.
I totally understand not wanting to chip in but why are some of you totally insulting this guy? I may be wrong but I don't think he is the one asking for a handout, someone came up with this idea to hook him up, I think?

Honestly, its just the Zone. Can't speak for any other poster, but I'm just having fun with it. Partly serious, partly joking. I'm not sure why guys are getting offended? Hopefully dude doesn't read this forum.......

So basically what this boils down to is that you're jealous because someone wants to help this dude out and you don't think he's any more worthy of help than you are. Got it.

That is true, but after becoming employed when you are removed from the disability program you get about 6 monthes before they take your medical away because it the basic time it takes before employee insurance kicks in. It was something I was worried about also because the meds for my condition cost over 1500$ per month. But they give you time to get covered by your employer. Just because your backround is a certain field, doesnt really give someone the right not to try, and i may be wrong he may be trying, but almost all states do a vocational rehabilitation program also for helping put disabled people back in the work force, by funding schooling for them, job placement, apprenticeships. They do alot of things. I still think maybe the full extent of his disability either isn't mentioned or there is a serious lie going on.
