little surprised we didn't give the higher tender, but we're clearly ok with him leaving and getting a 7th is better than nothing.

It depends. We can always match the offer someone gives.
Apparently we think he is not worth 1.95 million or whatever it is, but he's worth the 700K. Somewhere in the middle there, there's probably a price we're still willing to pay, but I assume if someone offer $2 million/year or anything close to it, we will not match.

Even with a 7th tender he's still making more than double what Bow is making. If nobody takes LG were stuck paying him. I hope we match any reasonable offers though because when Bow's contract is up.... BOW IS GONE. LG needs to be PW's career right hand man. LG is a 49er at heart. It's his home team.

Bowman's going to be due a huge raise over his current $490K. I expect they'll be able to sign a veteran backup on the cheap if needed.

No clearly we don't need to overpay for Larry Grant considering Boweman will be up for a contract extension soon. Naturally sports fans hope to keep all the good players but realistically we can't expect Larry Grant to stick around and simply back up these two. He clearly has the skills to be a starter somewhere else.

Bye Grant, it was nice to know we had that depth, lets hope to pick up someone else that can cover just as well if not better than Grant.

I mean, would we really place a first round tender on the guy based on 4 games?
There is a reason balitmore keeps 2-3 core lbs and the rest on a rotating basis

Yeah, to me if we sign Grant long term it's like holding him back. For all we know Grant asked to be given a chance to get a nice contract and start somewhere else. Holding him here 1 year at 1.9 million might have been an option but after that he would have probably left because I don't think we could have tendered him again. Knock on wood I don't see him getting much time as a backup... he is just a special teams player. Those were the 1st games Willis missed since 07 and Bowman I don't think has missed a game in 2 years.
And anyone hoping we keep Grant because Bowman will be gone has to realize we have 2 more years of him under contract and then probably another because we will tag him if we can't work out a contract. Does it pay to keep Grant around for another 3 full seasons to wait to possibly back up Bowman in the off chance he doesn't re-sign with us?
Edit: And p.s. it's likely he is gone but remember guys since he is tendered we have the option to match any contract offered to him.

I think that may have had a lot to do with this and player agents probably notice that kind of thing . . . which should help the UDFA recruiting/signing period after the draft, regardless of why we did it.

Why are some losing their minds over this. Dude was an average player who stepped in for P52 and started a few games. Did an good job and probably earned himself a starting position somewhere else. He did that playing with the NFLs best defense.
Why the big deal
