We must be the first team to ever have 2 multi-pro bowl LS.
Seriously though, harbaugh just said he wants competition at every position, and one of the nfl's most elite LS was available (Seelys guy from CLE), so we brought him in. Jennings isn't getting any younger either.

Jennings just started a family last off season and I'm thinking it's possible that he told the team he's hanging it up.

Seems like the most likely choice, BJ is flawless.

Not sure what to think about this one, but he was a pro bowler in 07 and 08.
What a splash in the offseason, long snapper, like we need another one. My guess he wanted to rejoin his coach and came on the cheap. Otherwise I'm not sure why we just signed him, but I'm sure they know what they are doing.

Pontbriand is not a backup center. He has no position other than long snapper. He's about 255 lbs. He wasnt even considered for the job of Center the year the Browns lost LeCharles Bentley, his backup Bob Hallen and his backup Todd Washington to retirement, and Alonzo Ephraim to suspension. 4 centers. Plus Ross Tucker, Lennie friedman and finally Hank fraley. All in one preseason. Thats 7 centers that took snaps in front of him. Pontbriand didnt receive a single snap. He is not a center.
:maybe he is cheaper than jennings so we can save cap room.Yes, Jennings' contract is a real burden on the salary cap.
