Yes, that was Colin Kaepernick who threw the ball perfectly into Walker bread basket for the TD that would have put the niners up last week. That was CK who hit Delanie in stride the week before. So Kaepernick is rising boats, wheras Walker is lowering boats.

Has Walker ever scored 10 points for the other team? Just curious.

Has he scored ten points for his own team

We do not need another qb discussion/whinge/b***hing thread.

Enough.
He is not a player who can block his ass off and with those same hands make a catch a play later. He needs time to recoup and refocus as a pass catcher.

Special Teams: Punt or Kickoff He blocks or gets down field like a mad man. He may even make a solid tackle behind the twenty. +1

First Down: Delanie will escort a Linebacker out of a play. Resulting in a Four to Six yard rush for Frank. +1

Third Down: Delanie is wide open with those rock hands of his and is trying to turn up field before he actually catches it. Drop -2

Delanie Walker isnt overrated. He just flat out sucks.

Bolded. We need to draft a TE.
I've always supported Walker as a good all around player but his drops often come at great cost...then again, his catches often come at key moments--Detroit last year and at least one game winning TD this year. But he is not really a weapon in the sense of a traditional TE...and neither is VD. So, that leaves SF without a traditional TE--a guy who can be the blocker/outlet for the QB. Gore has become the only outlet guy the team has now that Hunter is down. I hope James can help.

I favored drafting Fleener last year, not just because I liked him as a player, but because the team needed a good option and he could have been a more traditional TE. There were a couple of other TEs in the draft that would have helped as well.

With potentially 3 3rd rounders this year, there will be some decent prospects available for them, more traditional, bigger TE's with better receiving ability who can slide in as the #2 TE.
i still haven't found a top anything list rating Walker anywhere

so i ask, if no one has even rated him in a Top 50 TE list, how can he be over rated?

I think Delanie Walker is overrated is people are viewing him as a pass catcher or any kind of receiving threat. He isn't at all. However is is really good at everything else he does. For that reason, I want us to lock him up longterm if it's the right price. But the fact is, this guy cannot be a #2 receiving TE in this offense. All we need is a guy to come in and be Eric Johnson (7th round pick). A security blanket that can find soft spots and catch passes thrown his way. He doesn't have to be this great scorer or a guy with great speed like Vernon Davis is. Just a guy that can come in and catch passes thrown his way since the defense will be focused on taking away our other players. Delanie Walker's weaknesses as a pass receiver is what will prevent him from being able to be a starting TE in this passing league.

A player with no more than three career starts under his belt is "over-rated"? I can promise you that there are a lot of Pro-Bowl QB's who put up less impressive numbers than Kap in their first 3 career starts (even HOF's).

The fact of the matter is that not only has Kap shown alot of promise but has played very well. To call him "over-rated" would be an incorrect usage of the term.

One of the primary reasons he's out there is to catch the ball, if he's incapable of doing that, then the team is better off using an offensive lineman who can't catch worth s**t either but is a better blocker. Do you want a 6'0", 240 guy blocking or a 6'4", 300+ blocker? Part of being the #2 TE in this offense is the ability to make plays when the defense leaves you open due to having cover guys like VD, Crabtree...etc. If you can't make those catches, then you need to GTFO.

Delanie is a good blocker and is a pass threat. You have to put a DB on him, which frees up other guys. If you put a 300 pound TE, you can cover him with an LB, leaving additional DBs to watch VD, Crabs etc...He has many drops but also some good catches. Just don't throw him the ball in clutch situations and let a DB cover him and go to VD or Crabs, IMO.
