I dont think he is sold on him, but if you winning alot of complaining goes away.

True every year with every team. Rice complained about not getting the ball enough but stopped when he realized, 1) teams were keying on him, 2) he was more open when he didn't get the ball every time, and 3) they won. Winning trumps whinning!

8Alex Smith, QBSF

Maybe not top ten by your butt, but number 8 by rating.

Man you can go out there and have a great rating as well throwing 5 yard passes and dump off screens. Alex Smith is last in the NFL in pass attempts and last in deepest ball thrown in the entire League. He lacks the ingrediants. That all those top 8 Qb's have. Killer4 instinct and confidence to take the Niners over the top. I truly want the best for him. I just know he will never be a super bowl winner with our team
No trading Willis or anyone for Luck.

I don't believe in anyone in the draft being so good that we must disturb our new success for him. We had a few years to do this, and now it's too late.

We used to say that the Niner offense was too good for Smith......now we're complaining that it's not good enough.

No killer instinct? What did he show against the Eagles? No confidence? Well, likewise really in that last drive.

Lets have some justifications. At what point this year has Smith shown a lack of killer instinct? Or a lack of confidence? If you believe that, you ought to be able to produce some supporting evidence. As for the Super Bowl comments, again, that is just words. You dont "just know" that.
BTW, I lived in NY during the early Eli years up to and past the superbowl.

You want to talk about whining about a QB, there was a ton of it on Eli's back.

Football fans can really suck.

Looking at this practically, the NFL is no longer what it was when Joe, Steve, Troy, and the early Brett played. The parity has hit so hard that it's very hard to win more than one superbowl in a decade let alone back to back. Is Peyton Manning to blame for the Colts only having 1 superbowl ring?? Marino?

Two guys who are more talented than Smith but may be equal to him in SB rings someday.

Not all Europeans believe in Socialism or Communism or other. Some would say that because of Socialism and the creation of the Euro, Europe has only gone down hill while China becoming more capitalist in how it handles its economy has become more powerful then even the US who is also under a socialistic regime with Barack Obama. But as you can see his name can bring out Non Football topics and this Forum is for Football not for politics or economics so I will stop here and I will not speak of it no more. Sorry if I just added more kinley to the fire.

I will state that we should not trade Willis for Luck. I think Luck will be a good QB but he is not worth such a trade and I don't think he will work out on the 49ers team. I do understand that he was coached by Jim and because of such chemistry good things could happen. But I feel with our 2 rookie QB's we already have and with a Solid QB in Alex Smith who is getting better every week. It would be in our better interest to improve other parts of our team that are in higher need. Like getting some improvements in our Secondary, OLine, WR's and what ever else that is weak on our team. Also I like Hunter but i'm unsure if he would make a good replacement for Gore so we might want to think about that as well.

Who in the hell is Kinley and why would you add them to a fire? And what in gods name does that have to with the niners?

Smith is also last in number of Ints thrown and second in record. BTW he is not last in long ball among "elite QBs" and is ahead of bombers like Phillip Rivers and Carson Palmer. So make sure you have your facts straight or make corrections if you have time. Tom Brady has the longest TD at 99 yards. Wonder why Smith doesn't have any that long? How many possessions have the 9ers had starting inside the twenty?

10th in points per game with no ST or D scoring for quite some time.

Killer instinct is in the eye of the beholder. He doesn't rant and rave like P Manning but he seems quite able to lead to victory when he needs to...Philly, Det, last pass in Baltimore was on the money...but dropped. He doesn't give up even when pounded so this argument is insulting toward Smith.
redgoldnite, bud where were you the last 6 yrs when alex got the schidt pounded out of him, his clavicle broken from one of hundreds of savage hits , and a first class moron-d-bag of an imitation HC who called him sissy boy for not playing hurt...until noln found out about the fracture. noln never offered an apology. By the way, no news to anyone, maybe except you, that the kid had a different OC for 7 yrs running now, and THAT IS a NFL record, bet on it. How he managed to come back out game after game, with an imaginary OL, no OC worth a pint of pi**, no decent QB coach , no receivers, no O plan, complete disregard by 3 HCs for 6 yrs as to protecting the qB....ah, hell, why go on....and still, after all the incredibly stupid and horrible things that happened to him, he wanted to come back this yr because? He knew he finally had the coach he had needed and had been waiting for. He saw what baalke was doing with draft picks in the OL, and alex, (who finished college in 2 yrs, stayed on another to play football) wanted to see if he had it to play in the bigs. And guess what redknite? He can and he did. Don't bother to tell us he isn't in the top 10 qBs, because he has directed this team to 10 Ws, and we only played 12. Guys like you either weren't around when the rest of us were dying here, and this kid shows up for this yr, and we have a Qb...a real , live qb, who knows how to win, or if you were around you weren't paying attn. But you were right about not being top 10...he is #8. You don't like him, go watch the Faders. I think you would fit well over there.

You and guys like you either had your minds made up long ago, or are just blind to the way this team, under alex's Qbing, is playing. If we were playing like dogs, that's one thing. But this team is playing like a true, dyed in the wool playoff team, destined to go deep in playoffs. Bubba, you don't do that with a piddly dink Qb. Chew on that.
And for the record, since you seem to have ignored it, reread dtg's comments above. Spot on. You on the other hand, are off the mark...way off the mark.

In summary, alex got a great coach, HC, OC, QB coach, all wrapped into one + he got a very good OL= alex becoming a very successful qb. Let's see, how many other teams are 10-2 ? uuummm, well Packers are 12-0, Nobody at 11, and ....yup, that's right, alex has us at #2 record...in the league. You might want to rethink your position before posting "anti alex" whatever it is you post again.

Thats so true. I'm not sold on Smith either. I really think he is just having a Dilfer or Maddox type of year. I will take it though. They are talking about extending his contract. I think its for 2 years.

Yes I do! He will never evr win a super bowl for the 49ers! Period! He does not have the 'It' factor. Sorry... Dude! but it's the truth. I hope he throws for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns with a Super Bowl ring next season. I really do. It's just I'm being realistic here

i think he does have th eit factor

first year in a new offense without an offseason he is having a top 10 seasona s a qb and considereing we are leading the league in drop passes that is pretty impressive

he leads the league in comback wins

he leads the league in 2 min drill offense (passer rating)
he is extremelly clutch and now i believe he has the it factor

as for the 5000 season no he wont have that because in WCO you dont pass much montana only had a handfull of 300 yard passing games in his career

I agree that he does not have the IT factor. I agree that he is not the long term solution. I only thing I disagree about is him getting a ring. People on here are a trip. They are giving him too much credit. You could plug any decent veteran QB to do what Smith is doing. Frank Gore is a beast and the Defense is stifling. Smells like Dilfer in 2000. As long as Smith plays mistake free football if he does get a ring it would be this year only. Next year the opposing D will adjust.

Vernon is hesitant in general. I don't like the way he runs. He should blow people up and break a lot more tackles.

No supporting evidence. Sorry but this is just your prejudice. In a discussion you raise arguments founded on facts. You have none.
