Not good news.
Eric Davis doesn't seem to think that a grade 2 strain is anything too serious. Said it wasn't pulled and that they will probably just rest him agains AZ. I'm hoping he's right, but hamstrings can be tricky.
6 wekks is for a broken bone
hamstrings you can actually play the next week its just tweeked
they will rest him next game but he should be fine
the only trick to curing a sprained hamstring is to leave it alone and dont work it out

There was short medical paper written up on hamstring injuries in the NFL. Obviously everyone heals different, but here were the average times missed for NFL players.
Grade I strain: 16 days
Grade II: 21.5 days
Grade III: 28.5 days
The good: The recovery times were significantly longer when it was a recurrence instead of a first time injury.
The bad: About 1/3 of players reinjured their hamstring, usually within a week of coming back.
Take what you will from it. Google "Categorization of Hamstring Strain Injuries by MRI and Playing Time Lost in Professional football Players" if you want to read it - it'll also tell you exactly what Grade I/II/III strains actually are.

Wouldn't mind not seeing him until playoffs. Even for the pittsburgh game, even if it costs us a rushing TD, even if it costs us a 100 yard rusher. Playoffs is all that matters now.
If he can come back sooner, great. I trust our staff to make the best judgement. 9ers have always seemed to err on the side of caution.

A grade 2 usually takes at least 2 weeks to heal from what I have read.
That would mean he will likely not play vs Pittsburgh, but since this is not considered a serious injury, I am guessing it is likely a Grade 2 leaning more towards a 1.
I can live with Willis being out vs the Cards, as that game will be good experience for Grant, but we will need him vs the Steelers.

hes going to be hard to keep out of the MNF game vs Pitt, but I hope he takes it easy. We will need him badly in the Playoffs.

thats pretty dumb imo, so its ok to lose possibly 2 games against the steelers and in seattle and lose out on the 2nd seed, a bye and end up playing a damn wild card game possibly rusty since according to you, you want no starters playing till the playoffs. even if we win that game we would have to go to new orleans which is a death trap for away teams and have to deal with brees and all those weapons on a fast turf and a loud ass dome where our questionable oline will have trouble hearing causing false starts and deal with gregg williams' non stop blitzes. no question harbaugh will have everyone playing unless in the last game of the yr we have the 2nd seed wrapped up and we can afford to sit the starters in the 2nd half or so

Bowman needs to take over as the leader of the unit
no 100 yard rusher, no rushing TD's...its up to him to enforce the middle
