A huge part of it depends on how the draft shakes out and who the best players available are when we pick. Because guys at positions we draft would obviously be more vulnerable. I see the following as slam dunks to be back:
Alex Smith
Kaepernick
Gore
Hunter
Miller
Crabtree
Morgan
K. Williams
V. Davis
Walker
Staley
Iupati
Goodwin
Snyder
A. Davis
Boone
Kilgore
J. Smith
Sopoaga
McDonald
RJF
Aldon Smith
Bowman
Willis
Brooks
Costanzo
Rogers
Brown
Culliver
Whitner
R. Smith
Akers
Lee
Jennings
That leaves 19 guys. I think 6 will be rookies. 2 will be vet FA's we re-sign (i.e. between Ginn/Rachal/Edwards/Goldson). 4 will be FA's we sign from another team. 7 will be fringe guys on the team this year that we also wind up keeping next year (i.e. Larry Grant/Dixon/Dobbs/Brock/Spillman etc.)

Who on the current team will not be on the 2012 49ers?

Losing Ginn, Edwards and Brooks would smack of incompetence. We need all three of them. I cant visualise losing them all.

Personally, seeing how our team was with Reggie Smith at FS, I would rather take Goldson over Rogers.
No way Joe, if Goldson wants bigtime money he seriously needs to work on his coverage skills and not giving up on plays that he can make a difference on.

Spencer for sure. Never lived up to 2nd round expectations. Too lazy

He's had a decent career for a 2nd round pick.

Ginn can be upgraded in the draft, and so can Edwards. I'd hate to see Brooks go but we have to start getting used to losing fan favorites now that we are good again. the value on our players goes up to other teams and they'll pay more than we will because they've been apart of winning.
If we keep our core, players like the ones mentioned above are easily replaced every year.
I'm willing to put money on it and check back on this thread in the off season.

He hasn't really been burned this year.

Rogers has exceeded expectations (and maybe even his own ability) this year. He wants a big, multi-year deal, but the Niners would have to be desperate to sign a 30 year old DB with one good year to a big time contract.

Spencer gone, Norris gone, Edwards gone, M. Williams gone, Brooks gone, R. Smith gone, Dixon gone, Chilo gone, Peele gone, Some of our lowest-string "special teams only" guys like Jones, Swain, and Grant gone.
Snyder unexpectedly signs with other team like Baas did this year.
We bring back Ginn, Carlos, and Goldson, and Alex of course takes a hometown discount.

Goldson is a MONSTER out there, and hits VERY hard. We need players like him out there to scare the daylights out of the oppostion.

makes sense, but wouldn't other general managers have the same train of thought?
