I don't care if they have certain teams like the Ravens and Steelers ahead of us, those teams have earned the benefit of the doubt, we haven't. I don't get why so many of them have the Steelers ahead of the Ravens though.

We still don't know if QB Alex Smith can carry this team to a win if need be, but who cares? They have bought in to head coach Jim Harbaugh and his system and are playing as a team as well as anyone in the game. The 49ers' record in road games, especially on the East Coast, is substantial. This team has the confidence to go anywhere (if need be) in the playoffs to win. They will be challenged with the physical play of the Giants.

The NFL sends out a press kit to help their pundits talk about the 49ers, with this handy fill-in-the-blanks cheat sheet:

[Generic statement questioning Alex Smith], [something about Jim Harbaugh, preferably mentioning the Handshake]. [Something about either the defense carrying the team or their record on the road.] [Mention the Packers and shootouts]. **OPTIONAL: [Second comment about Alex Smith being a bust and/or being a game manager] or [Say something about their terrible division.]

You guys realize the NFL.com expert rankings usually don't update until Wednesday at the earliest right? Or do you actually think they'd rank thevSteelers above the Ravens who just swept them..
