Sounds like he might be back next week and worse case scenario he is back after the bye. I think RJF can do a solid job for a game or two. D-Line is very thin now though. Our only healthy backups are two undrafted rookies. I think Dobbs could be a player though and Ian Williams can be a solid backup....In time

Terrible week to get it. Next week we likely wouldn't need him too much anyways. So might as well just keep him out for the Detroit game too, then the bye week, then hopefully he'll be good as new for Cleveland....but damn it woulda been nice to have him against Tampa. I do think perhaps we should run a fair amount of 4-3 this Sunday. A. Smith and RayMac at d-end and J. Smith and RJF at DT. Bowman, Willis, and either Haralson or Brooks at LB.

Good post.

What would everyone think of these for Sunday's game? Give it a try... might be fun.

When in run D mode:

RayMac -------- RJF --------------- Justin Smith ---------- Aldon Smith

______ Brooks _______ Willis _____________ Bowman

When in Nickel or likely pass situations:

Dobbs ----------- RayMac --------- Justin Smith --------- Aldon Smith

_____________Willis _____________ Bowman _____________

In nickel, that LDE will be Brooks, not Dobbs.

NT Isaac Sopoaga on Tuesday explained the infection that limited him in recent weeks. "That's what everybody thought, that it was staph, but it was nothing," he said. "It was just a cut on my skin and I didn't take care of it."
