Tolzein should be ready to start sooner than Kaep simply because of the offenses they ran in college. As for their amount of talent, too early to tell. Personally, I like Tolzein, being the Badgers homer I am.

This offensive talent in 2011 appears to be talented, but it is still unproven.
you must be forgetting Anthony Clement. and the other starting WR was Morton.
2010 2 QB's palyed: 44 sacks
2005 Rushing: 3.9 but Gore had 4.8
2010 rushing: 4.1 Gore had 4.2
The teams weren't that far off. Kaep may not have looked great in preseason, but he sure looked better than rookie Alex Smith who would not let the ball go.
SO you are saying that Alex Smith was a giant sized turd, and Kaep was a medium sized turd with a few sprinkles mixed in?
Turd is Turd.
I think Kaep is more of a shart since he actually used his mobility and instincts.

I didn't catch 49er preseason games when Smitty was a rook, but Kaep really looked bad, so Alex must have looked like a H.S QB theN?

Alex Smith looked like a fan that had just stepped on the football field to play QB.
He looked THAT bad.

Should Alex Smith not become the next Joe Montana just because of Harbaugh and Roman I bet our starting QB will be a competition of Tolzien and Josh Johnson. Completely different QB styles but I'm calling it right now. Tolzien V. Johnson for our starting gig in 2012. Kaepernick will challenge for starting gig in 2013 and no sooner.

I could see Kaep being converted to Wr or something at some point, I'm probably way off but he doesn't really look like a QB to me. Granted what a QB "looks like" is changing now.
I'm excited about Tolzein, and I feel we will draft another Qb next year.

yeah, we still suck(ed, last year), and that's the real sobering thing about it. And I'm not saying that our backups now could beat our starters then, but any quick glance at the rosters of today and 2005 and you'll see a much more talented team in red and gold today.

Tolzien looks more composed presently. But they are both very young.

Kaep was a 2nd rounder on a short camp. Cam Newton wasn't any better and he was the #1 overall. We have Harbaugh, so we will see as their shouldn't be any problems in theory.
