Disclaimer:
THIS IS A POSITIVE THREAD. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY ABOUT THE 49ERS, JIM HARBAUGH, THE OL, THEN DON'T SAY IT AT ALL. THERE ARE ALREADY PLENTY OF NEGATIVE THREADS THAT STRESS HOW WE SUCK RIGHT NOW. FOR ONCE I WOULD LIKE TO SEE REASONS WHY THE 49ERS WILL BE SUCCESSFUL THIS SEASON.
Here are my reasons:
Jim Harbaugh has swag. Obviously we don't know if JH will be successful yet. We only have our gut feeling at this point. I feel that everything JH has done up to this point has been better when Nolan and Sing were in their first years. I can just feel it. Call it charisma or whatever, but when I watch his press conferences I can see in his eyes a "Just wait and see" mentality. Now I know what you're thinking, Sing said "Just wait" many times, but JH doesn't have to. His awkwardness at the podium, his upbeat tempo during TC practices shows me he knows what he's doing. I read an article that says JH would be denied the opportunity to have a well organized TC because of the lockout, not because he is a bad coach. I beg to differ though, I think he is that good of a coach that he is utilizing every minute of everyday to get better and thus having a great TC. Right now ninertalk is in a franzy because everyone seems to think Harbaugh is in over his head, he doesn't know what he's doing yet because he is a rookie HC, he doesn't know how to handle his players in pre-season games, and doesn't know how to handle the media. I actually like the way he handles the media. Often times Nolan and Sing said too much to the media to overhype our team and made us the preseaon favorites to win the NFC West every year, only to be bitten by reality by midseason. Nolan and Sing also had the mentality to be Pre-Season champs and win every game only to start 0-5 during the regular season.
Ladies and gentlemen, what we are seeing right now is the storm before the calm. Everything is in disarray, we look terrible in preseason, the OL looks regressed, the QB is the same, and JH is losing his credibility to some. But if you can walk outside and handle the high winds, the torrential downpour, the thunder and lightning and look up into the clouds, you will see the sun peeking through. You will see a team that is poised to make a run, and will fix EVERYTHING before week 1. You will see an OL that puts DL on their asses and Alex Smith (can't believe I went this long without saying his name) picking apart defenses. We all know he has the ability to given time. We will also see the little nuances JH has taught Alex this offseason (like side-stepping defenders, keeping his eyes down-field on the run) to make plays. Ofcourse Frank will be Frank and Crabtree will breakout. Edwards will be a great pickup for us and be that big play receiver downfield. Our weapons will be utilized to their full extent in Harbaugh's offense. Have some faith people!

You have to understand the psyche of people. Use a person from many scorned relationships as an example.
" I loved and believed in that girl ", he whimpers. Next girl he meets and finds hope with...
" I loved and believed in that girl as well ", he whimpers yet again. Next girl he meets and finds hope with...
" WTF man? I keep giving and they stomp on my very soul !!!! " he cries out before crumpling in a heap of despair. Next girl he meets....
" Fu*k her... nope... she can just keep walking. I'm done... not opening up myself ever again !!! " he says as he slinks away.

I will bite my lip to the season starts to give more comments. Sorry, but I don't really believe they're going to be a good team.

The 49ers are going to win the west this year. We will have a 10 win season and Alex Smith will go the the Probowl. If you believe anything less, you are not a 49er Faithful. I go in every year thinking we can take it all. Have I been disappointed every year in the last decade or so? Yes, but I never stop believing in this team. Im a Niner for life through thick and thin.

A bit of a rigid stance... but not one that I really disagree with.... so long as there is a distinction between "49er Faithful" and "49er Fan".
( meaning: You can still be a fan while not being a 49er Faithful )

No, because it's all uphill from here. Everyone wants to be at the top.

Because it looks like more of the same to me. I'm really disappointed in the release of McKillop. The guy is a tackling machine. There is no chance constanza will ever play defense for us. What a waste.

That's what i'm saying. My mind resets itself every year.
And as for the poor relationships metaphor, when we hired Nolan, was he on the top of our list? When we hired Singletary was he really the most credible choice? I feel the 49ers organization are trying to make the 49ers fanbase happy. Jim Harbaugh was ranked as the #1 ranked coaching prospect on ESPN, and was the fan favorite here as well. The Erickson/Nolan/Sing era wasn't looking for the next great coach (although Sing was a fan favorite because of his hype and that was it, but he never stood a chance). It is clear now that they are. They said we are tired of losing and tired of hiring coordinators/position coaches as HC and bring in someone who has a REAL future in the NFL. If it doesn't work out with Harbaugh, it won't be their fault this time. They listened to the fanbase and the experts and went with the best choice.

Lockout preseason, new coach, new offense, a QB nobody likes and an o-line with more holes than my step sister. Thats why nobody believes in this team.

The biggest problem right now is that Harbaugh needs to decide who the first team is so they can have some playing time together and get some sort of stability. This is the same problem that this team has had for the last 4-5 years with Nolan and Singletary. Name the starters and get ready for the first game of the season.

I for one will not start bashing Harbaugh until next year... or perhaps the end of this year (if they look really, really bad). I think the defense will be exciting this year. I think they will rank a little worse against the run than last year, but I think they will rank much better against the pass and I think they will generate more turnovers. This will hopefully give the offense more/better chances. I think the offense will operate with purpose this year. The execution will be all on the talent on the field and the way they are practiced (positional coaching). Let's remember that the average age of the starting guards and tackles on this team is 24 years old! There is enormous potential there, but it will take time.
A lot of fans patience has (justly) run out. They are frustrated. The 9ers went through a rebuilding process that didn't work.. and in a lot of respects the team is still rebuilding. It is worth noting that if the 9ers did indeed hit on some players (A Davis, Iupati, Crabtree, Aldon Smith, Bowman...etc.) they have the makings for a real good team. Indeed the success of this season for me will be the performance of those players. If the team for some reason finishes with a worse record than last year... but the players listed above all seem to break out, I'll be happy. Chances are if those players break out the team will be winning.

The 49ers will be successful if:
1. The offense can learn the WCO & playbook quickly
2. The offensive line can pass block
3. The QB can score touchdowns
If we falter in any of these categories, we will end up with another top 10 draft pick. Fortunately the team has too much talent to be 2-14 as some people predict. I can see them ending up with as little as 5 wins all the way to 9 wins depending on the following factors above.
