Be careful with statements like this. You'll be lambasted and instructed about how every player's pre-season play is a clear indicator of how the regular season will unfold. Didn't you know?

You couldn't let me finish it off? I bet you'd walk up to me in the 7th and say, "Man, I can't believe the no-no you've got going." Only to then watch the lead off hitter in the 8th hit a bloop broken bat single.

for over 20 years i have watched great HC`s play their starters most of the game in the 3rd preseason game. when a rookie hc changes up what has proven to be the most important preseason game it draws a red flag imo. thats the game where you are supposed to see where you stand as a ball club. i have a hard time believing that harbaugh knows better then the hundreds of coaches who coached before him and imho he screwed the pooch on this one. we would have been much better served to go out and compete with houston and see where we are at. thats how you evaluate your players. not by practicing your players against your own talent depleted team who hasnt made the playoffs in almost 10 years. thats a sense of false hope if i have ever heard of it!
someone tell me im wrong, cause im really starting to question this whole mess and its starting to look like a circus!
anyone have any thoughts good or bad on this?

Like I've said, the lock-out has given JH and other NFL coaches a free pass, so I want to hold my judgement until perhaps next season.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and you have a logical argument, but do you really think if JH went ahead and treated the 3rd pre-season game as a "dress rehearsal" it would significantly improve what happens in the regular season? One single pre-season game? Is it really that critical?

ok, now we are talking turkey. as far as the one game being the end all be all. youre absolutely right, its just one preseason game. but where is the confidence supposed to come from if its not going to come in the preseason? right now id imagine our locker rooms confidence and continuity is pretty low. with only 12 days to go before the season opener, i think its obvious we pretty much wasted the preseason and we never used it as an opportunity to get better with our starting units. harbaugh himself said he wanted to evaluate his backups while everyone else was fine tuning their teams for the regular season. i just dont see why he has to piss into the wind.
an opportunity lost is lost forever.

Looking for confidence?! that's easy...
The Seahawks and Tavaris Jackson will get shutout on opening day because of Patrick Willis and Ahmad Brooks, and Justin Smith, and Donte Whitner, and sometimes Dashon Goldson, and little bit of Aldon Smith.
And then Gore will gash the Seahawks for 2 tds and 150 yards.
49ers 24 - Seahawks 0
Surprise!!!
Then that will be all the confidence we'll need!
