I've always thought Staley kinda sucks..When Barry Sims came in when Staley was injured a couple years back, I thought he looked better than Staley.

Good thread. Move Staley to RT Boone to LT and try Kilgore at RG.

Goodwins issues at center are due to lack of time with the startiing line. Get him in at center move snyder over to RG bench rachal.

You've never seen Davis play left tackle. Unless you watched a lot of Boston College games. And then you'd know why he was considered by most to be one of the top 2 or 3 tackles coming out of college.

Benching Staley to send a message just sounds highly simplistic--a bit like scolding Staley for the errors that have been made on the o-line.
The problems on the offensive line go beyond any individual players.
In his conference call, {as I understood it} Harbaugh said that they needed to look at:
1. the scheme that is being run
2. how the coaching staff is running it
3. who is playing the scheme
In placing the review of who is playing third on the list, Harbaugh seems to acknowledge that coaching staff needs to look at itself and its work.
In essence, he is saying that the mistakes can not just placed on individual players.
Including point three, does indicate that the staff is willing to replace players who are not doing the job.
I am interested in seeing what happens.

Barry Sims is sitting around playing hoops or whatever...he could be helpful....the O-line has been an issuse for years...without a 'decent' O-line we have no chance

Our overall team rating would go down with this move. Bad idea.

How about we just put all their faces on slot machines and pull the lever and whoever ends up in each spot gets to start in that position? It'd make about as much sense as the mix and match ya'll are doing.

...BTW...I just re-watched the game. Watch that second sack very closely and you will see that its pretty evident that the Center was supposed to take the DT, Iupati was supposed to take the DE, and Staley was supposed to take th outside rusher.
Staley was looking to the outside to see if there was a rusher coming and once he saw that there wasn't, he slipped back inside to assist the center.
He couldn't assist Iupati because Iupati screwed up at the snap and blocked the wrong guy...so the DE blew right past him unblocked.
This play was NOT an error by Staley. It was a MENTAL error by Iupati...and its not his first. He did something similar in the first drive vs. the Saints.
To be completely honest, as much as I like Iupati and see his potential, he is the guy I am the most worried about in pass protection. I think he'll be a MONSTER at some point, but right now, he's making WAY too many mental errors.
I will give him a break tho...he is quite new to the game and a bit raw, but he's got all the tools and the right attitude.

Anthony Davis played for Rutgers. Just sayin'....

I think he knows that.
What he's saying is that classically LT are smaller, quicker players while RTs are larger lumbering players.
The reason is because teams put their uber-fast pass-rusher on the QBs blind side and bigger run-stuffing players on the other end.
Staley is smaller and quicker than Davis.
EDIT: ...and BTW, I'm responding to 49erThrowback

Yes, Barry Sims. He is definitely the answer.

Brain fart. Usually I let them go in private.
Funny how that happens. I'd been looking for BJ Raji's stats to compare them with Ian Williams's, and somehow BC got stuck in my head. Even when I consciously know that Davis was a Scarlet Knight.
