Ike taylor
personally i would love to add him on our squard he only allowed 1 td pass last year and is a great pressure CB
having Taylor Clements and Spencer who are all press corners will be a great secondary tandem as they all have strengths which match up to our new defensive scheme
PS sorry to keep you guys in suspense
thoughts?
edit: this is per john clayton and he is usually on point

probably just reporting what Maiooco said
Q: Do you expect the 49ers to be big players in free agency once we get there? @ElvinPritchard
My response: The 49ers believe their secondary will be better this season because Aldon Smith will improve their pass rush. The club wants Nate Clements back as a starter. The question becomes, at what price? When the lockout lifts, the 49ers might simultaneously work to figure out the Clements situation while making contact with any free-agent corners they've targeted. The Steelers' Ike Taylor could be a player who is attractive for them. However, I just can't see the 49ers spending huge bucks to compete with the likes of the Cowboys, Redskins or Eagles for the services of Nnamdi Asomugha. Most of the 49ers' free-agent dollars will likely be earmarked for retaining their own free agents, such as Alex Smith, David Baas, Dashon Goldson, Ray McDonald and Takeo Spikes. It'll be difficult for the 49ers to retain Lawson and nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin.

Ike Taylor is very average, that excellent Pittsburgh pass rush makes him look better then he really is.

I'd rather just keep Nate at a reduced salary, but if that's not an option, Taylor could be an adequate alternative. Wouldn't get excited about it though.

Are we not in a lock out still?
How is this valid?

ike taylor for real? the guy is nate clements 2.0, not saying he sucks but he is far from the type of corner we need, just our luck though, we'll pass on nnamdi, richard marshall and joseph to pick up a stiff like taylor, theres a reason pitt lost the sb

Eh... I'd rather not overload with that many old vets. Wouldn't hate it, but they would just be blocking up the development and reps of our many youngsters.
In a good scheme, Nate and Spencer are fine at #1 and #2. Then, we can mix in Culliver, Brown, Adams, Brock, whoever else.

But isn't that what we are going to try to do which means we need CB's exactly like Ike Taylor.

i'm just saying pitt isnt the secondary we should be raiding for talent unless its troy, ike is your classic press corner who will look like mike rumph with no pass rush

Key word is trying, right we don't know what we have in Aldon Smith. Also if we improve our pass rush it would make our current CB's even better.
