As far as I'm concerned, Bubba Paris is to Joe Montana what Lawrence Phillips is to Steve Young. If I remember correctly, in the 1991 NFC championship game, Paris allowed the Giants Marshall to sack Montana, knocking him out of the game, ruining the 49ers chance for a 3-peat, and effectively ending Montana's career as a Niner. Furthermore, Paris was criticized for being overweight and out of shape that year.
Nobody's going to tell me that Joe wouldn't have pulled a win out of that game with 9 minutes left in the 4th if he'd been able to finish. Ya, Bubba Paris, there's a guy I'd really like to meet.

Craig lost if for us. He was barely touched and coughed the rock up. LT recovered the fumble

Ya I remember, that was the final nail in the coffin. But to clarify my opinion, the team had been on a roll for three years with the greatest QB of all time, who was right handed, then you put in your left handed backup, and it might of thrown off the rhythm, timing, play calling, and confidence of the team just a bit. I know I'm playing revisionist history here, but would Craig have fumbled if Montana had stayed in the game? Would the same play that he fumbled on have been called? We'll never know unfortunately.

no sh!t. all he to do was hold on to the ball 3 times without fumbling and ny would have ran out of time to win

How come a great all time 49er is bashed for one fumble, when he didn't have a history of fumbling, yet we have had a sub par QB for 6 years that half the zone still has faith in? My how things have changed.

Funny how 2 people can have completely different opinions on the same guy. I met Bubba, at a Wal Mart, quite a few years back. He was a very nice guy! I stood there and visited with him for quite a while. He told me that he was an evangelist. Gave me his home # in case I wanted him to come speak at my church, one time. He was also one of my favorite players on those 49er teams.
