People are far too infatuated with Ziegler. Guy will not make the team. Bank on it. I guarantee it.

In his quiet career with SF, he has endured at least four different injuries with two of them being season-ending, including the torn ACL which he is still not recovered from. He's done.
I think Ziegler and Ginn get cut. along with the other scrubs.

Kyle Williams better fkn show something! and i don't mean his balls.

Agreed. He was an also ran at a time the team really didn't have a legit NFL WR on the squad. Now with Edwards and Crabtree ahead of him plus Morgan as a more well-rounded player, he has almost nothing to offer.

Ginn is a lock. Absolutely no chance they get rid of his speed. Too valuable not only on returns, but in scenarios where they want to at least present the fear-factor of him streaking deep downfield. Williams may not even make the team, considering RoJo's ability to return punts. Although I think if we keep six, he will.
I love that we have quite a number of official NFL caliber "horizontal" weapons. I miss the days of frustrating defenses by consistently moving the chains with 5-9 yard gains every play.

Defenses are more geared today to stop the horizontal game but now we also have a vertical threat in Vernon, Ginn, and possibly Edwards.

Edwards is arguably our best vertical threat at this point, including Davis. Edwards runs a very pretty deep route - all different kinds too. He's a little better than Davis at making body adjustments. Pretty excited about him.

Rojo, Williams have speed also, so does philip adams, we don't really need ginn, if we have other possible KR.

I'd love to have ginn, and Zeiglers roster spots for Jurovich, and Rojo. I love Z, but his time in SF is up. Granted though, with his awesome route running, he might be awesome in a WCo.

I think they keep 6 WR

I curious to see if Harbaugh eventualy switches Crabtree from SE to Flanker,
Edwards at SE, Morgan primary backup for both spots

Ginn as the #4, and active for games as the primary return specialist

Johnson and Williams mostly inactive on game days, but important future contributors

Cut Ziggy loose soon,so he can have a good shot at making another teams 53, I like the guy, but gets dinged too easy

Jurovich should find a place on our PS

Vern and Walker at TE
looks like the Stanford UDFA Reuland could make the 53 stepping in for Byham

I think Adams, especially considering his last injury on STs, is not going to be in consideration for returning any kicks. They tried out Jurovich last year in pre-season and that was a no-go.

I fully expect Ronald Johnson and Ginn to make the team. I just can't see them cutting Johnson. Ginn is the fastest of the bunch by far. Could be used in reverse plays on offense. Kyle Williams is the question mark due to durability. I think he would be great depth for the slot, but here's my take on things:

Williams was drafted in the 6th at par value -- he was expected to go there. He has outstanding speed but durability concerns.

Johnson was drafted in the 6th as a bit of a steal -- expected to go a little earlier. He has very good speed as well (4.45), and based on workout numbers, is probably stronger than Williams (11 reps on the bench compared to Johnson's 20). Not that those numbers mean all that much, really, but I think the one with the most practice time will do the best in the pre-season.

This pre-season is going to be a big test for Williams. He needs to prove he can get on the field.

Jim Harbaugh wants to make the wide receiver position relevant again. "If you watch NFL games, I almost feel like the receivers are becoming bored," Harbaugh told KNBR's Murph and Mac on his weekly radio show. "... They may get two or three balls thrown to them in a game." Harbaugh said his goal was to provide his top receivers 65 to 70 plays a game and to give them a sense that they're a part of the offense "on every single play." As every long-suffering 49ers fan knows too well, the team hasn't had a relevant receiver since Terrell Owens kicked and screamed his way out of San Francisco following the 2003 season. Owens' numbers that year: 80 catches for 1,102 yards and nine touchdowns. The most prolific year for a wideout since then came in 2008 when Isaac Bruce had 61 catches for 835 yards and seven touchdowns in Mike Martz's offense. The 49ers this year plan to take better advantage of their receivers' skills by sending them on more crossing patterns - and certainly more slant patterns - than they've run in recent years. Harbaugh also has arguably the most talented group of receivers the 49ers have had since Owens was in town.

I agree with konrad Reuland from Stanford is making a run to take Byham spot on the 53 , tuesday at training camp he looked very intriguing , good hands and always found the open area.
I think we'll keep 6 as well. crabtree, edwards, morgan, ginn, johnson, and williams. let zeigler go already

I watched a couple games from last season and I think the kid can block good. He might not suck.

Why Kyle Williams? As much as I like the kid's potential, he simply can't stay healthy!
