Gore took the money and stopped running.
I dont know if Frank is done, but he has not performed wel in the limited opportunities he has had.

Until he proves otherwise, Hunter and Dixon should share half (as in 50%) of the load.

No holes to run through = no rushing yards, it's that simple. It's not rocket science people. Of course, we could always put a rocket on Franks back and then he could fly over our sorry ass run blockers.

Agree with the last 2 posts. Until we get decent O-line play, it's impossible to accurately assess what Frank has left. However, we definitely need to give Hunter and dixon more carries, esp Hunter. He seems to squeeze out more from less and is extremely quick and fast. And Gore, except from his college days, pre-surgeries, has never been truly fast.

It is true, the running lanes have been too scarce. But, there have been some cut-back lanes fairly often enough that Gore used to take. Either he doesn't see them, or doesn't have the short burst to reach them anymore.
I don't think it is Frank Gore at all. Scouting vs Jim Harbaugh should obviously tell a team we are going to try to run heavy and pass short. Ware has already said, they gameplan vs Frank Gore. We saw the adjustments at halftime. They did the run blitz and covered outside the hashes daring us to throw deep or in the middle (Morgan wide open short middle). They even doubled Vernon which was how Delanie became open on the wheel route.

And you know what we ended up doing?

A zone run blocking scheme is not the best scheme vs a run-blitz. The OL are reading while the defense is blitzing and filling all the holes while the OL reads. Versus a run-blitz, man blocking is more effective because the OL can attack the man infront of them allowing them to get a better advantage to get a push.

The ONLY way for our zone blocking vs the run to be effective is if we punish them for run-blitzing by throwing the proper hot routes and backing them off. THEN Gore will see holes.

Let us hope JH is a calm genius and setting all this up.

Just watched the first half over. Gore did a good job and was pushing the pile and exploding into tacklers. The only problem was that he didn't have holes to explode into.

They stack the box because Frank Gore runs between the tackles which allows teams to squeeze the OLB's in closer. When they are able to do this it leaves them with the ability for some of these exoctic blitzs or even 7 man jail breaks against our offense.

As for the real reason they can do this is because Frank Gore lacks the speed to beat them to the outside.

Watch a speed back like Chris Johnson [titans] and you will notice that the OLB's are forced to play 3-4 yds wider which gives the OL a better opportunity to win their battles...

Getting an early jump on this thread...

He done
Hate to say it but it looks like he is. During the preseason he looked fresh to me. Now he looks tired.

People keep blaming the line, etc. etc. It's the way defenses are playing the Niners. It doesn't take a Rhodes scholar to see that opponents do not respect the 49ers offense at all. They are just challenging Alex Smith to beat 'em and the 49ers do not have the QBs or the WRs to beat a stacked box. The sad thing about it is, that by the time they do get some playmakers on offense, he will be done.

This has been the sad truth for a very long time. I don't think Frank is done, its the lack of respect for the passing offense. Thats spells disaster to the running game. Frank probably would have had a HOF career if the Niners had a decent passing attack.

Hunter came in with the same lack of passing attack and scored our lone TD dude. I hate to say it but Gore's not the same player he used to be. He's been reduced to a 3rd down back at the moment. He may not be compltely recovered from the hip or he might just be done. But its looking like the bell cow is the cow that's about to be put out to pasture
Beginning of the end for Gore in the Cinci game. He still has it but Hunter is screaming for a start like Young was with Montana.

Still loves Frank. Hope he has a better game next week. Hunter needs to be in the game more, much more.

Gore is not done...He just needs to be motivated...Make him earn his reps...He bust thru the hole for a first down on a play or two (even though it could have been for like 4 yards) but he still shows burst of determination...Just not as consistent as he used to...
