I'm personally done with a lot of the old regime. That includes Gore. Build around Crabs, VD and a new running back next year. I love what Frank gave us but his days are numbered.
I'd be willing to bet that a new coach who actually knows offense would be willing to show Frank the door or make him a backup. He's a great player and fits Singletary's vision. But we all know what that has done for us. Time to move on.
I am done with this thread....that is crazy. He is still young, you are talking like he is 35 years old. The dude wants to win, PERIOD! he is the one good dude on offense on a worthless team for years and you want to crap on him for what???
days are numbered....1st player in the league THIS year to 1000 yds...days are numbered.
I know it sounds crazy but I just want to blow this thing up. Especially on offense. Arian Foster will be the first to 1.000 yards. I got nothing but good things to say about him but our entire offense is based on a 31 year old running back. Time is running out and it would serve him better to not be wasted here. Just like the OP mentioned.
It might work out better for both parties.
not 1st to 1000 rushing...Gore was the 1st to 1000 combined. receiving and rushing. Not bad huh? This is a was, not a will be.
Considering he runs behind our offensive line which is the equivalent to running into a brick wall, couple that with inept QB's who are not allowed to audible on obvious run blitzes and he has 2 good years left on him max.
We are more than 2 years away from being contenders. Maybe more if we draft a new QB. If he gets hurt are you that confident in Dixon or Westbrook (likely he'll be gone)? What's your backup plan?
bolded for you pleasure. that is the point. If we had a team, this guy is an All world RB, and an all world teammate. He is not old yet man. Get rid of him for what. They don't give up draft picks for RBs at their peak.
This guy just produces, doesnt b***h, just plays. He supports and has been loyal when 90% of the league would not have been. He deserves some loyalty.
Then he pays you back in "your two years" by mentoring his replacement.
I never said he has to go, but would he accept a reduced role? The 2 headed monster at RB theory is pretty effective now so if you read my initial post I said he could be a back up to fresh legs.
But would he? At what price?
Don't be afraid to draft another RB higher than a 3rd rounder. Or show him some appreciation by letting him find a team who is ready to win now. I don't feel we are just yet. I see major changes coming, at least I hope.
Frank is great player. I love Frank don't get that wrong. Just cause I say he might have to move on doesn't mean I don't appreciate what he has given us.
