Do you guys ever notice that most of the completions, especially to the WR's have been to receivers who are almost a yard open? That's considered wide open!
How often have you seen Alex complete a tight completion or make a throw that splits defenders into the basket of the receiver?
The excuse about having better receivers is done with. We have better receivers and I think it is obvious that our QB just can't get the ball to receivers who are "open" as defined by NFL standards.
He also stares at his throw too often.
This game is too fast for him which is why he can't make that tight throw. Personally, I don't think he has the physical throwing ability to make for how fast the NFL game is for this process:
---see the defense>adjust to the lane>see closest receiver>set feet>make the release>power to get it there
Alex is like a Ken Dorsey (also a college record setting fun 'n gun type offensive QB) who was inappropriately taken at the top of the draft. The ONLY reasons Smith is around is the financial investments made in him and his great attitude and work ethic.
I just don't get it. Here's the timeline for reasons why Alex is not performing to his "capabilities".
2005: no line/no playmakers---fine even though Rattay was able to do with that crap personnel what Alex Smith is doing NOW with better personnel.
2006: it's all Kwame's fault---fine even though Kwame didn't give up a sack on every single damn pass attempt and Gore was demanding freaking 9 in the box.
2007: doesn't count because Hoslter and he got injured
2008: lost his job to a journeyman who sucked but still made more plays than Smith
2009: Better OL and better receiver and we got some of the best results from Smith ONLY in games against the crappiest defenses. Smith choked and was inneffective against average to above average defenses and it turned into Gorefest similar to 2006.
2010: Better receivers and WAY better OL yet the receiver MUST all be top 5 receivers because having the best rookie WR from 2009 and a TE that demands double coverage over the top doesn't matter.

FIRE BM now. NOW. TODAY. That is, IMO, the one and only way in which we can start over. See my lengthy post in Ang's thread on "who to blame for ATL flameout", for what to do after schidt canning BM. We can be a much, much better football team without BM at the helm. Right now he is a joke, a very damaging joke, is talked about on all sport shows, and frankly has no support other than an occasional diehard.
Quaterback, schmaterback...it doesn't matter who the QB is when the guy driving the bus is a dipstick. And that dipstick...he is ours, but only by the grace of jedi jed. FIRE BM and maybe the york's get their new stadium built. Continue on with a proven loser and they are losing fans, money and...chance for a new stadium getting built. If i were a SC voter, i would never vote any bond money for a team that has a loser as a coach, who has lost the locker room, not to mention 4 straight games, and is going backward as fast as he can.
How do we encourage the owner's to fire the main problem here? Anyone have any ideas, because i am desperate to see us turn this around. Probably we'll win a game and then everything will be alright until we lose the next 5 or 6. Any ideas, any at all out there on how to get BM schidt canned?
And I thought a good, solid, BM would make most on here feel better...
I think BM is doing a great job each week. He has shown that him and his crew can keep up with good teams (NO and ATL). BM can only do so much and when players don't perform....cough...cough...A. Smith...cough that is not his fault. BM is not on the feild playing...so again not his fault. Did you see him just kneeling down during the last mins of the game. That was a look of a man just utterly defeated...And honestly it was quite sad. Because they did make some adjustments during the second half do keep them in the game. Please don't blame Nate Clements for the lose as well becuase the defense cause a lot of three and outs. What did the offense do??? 7 points in the 1qrt then laid goose eggs for the last 3qrts So please stop blaming BM and NC as well.
Where did I say anything about Nate being responsible for the "lose"?

by the way, nothing you've stated above can be explained or justified by an Alexcuse®. Its not a function of new OCs or new HCs or injuries or needing more time or bad receivers or anything else.
It's a function of Alex Smith being a slow learning, meek, non-instinctual, and highly innacurrate QB that cannot be counted on, esp in the clutch. He could spend 15 years in the same system and none of his personal liabilities would be any different. The system would simply have to adapt to his liabilities, and vice verse.

Luck, Locker, Mallet. Not necessarily in that order. I'm not convinced on Locker, I think I'd rather have Mallet.

I would not draft anybody this year in the early rounds.
Last time I said that was 2005.

Wow, hate, I don't see hate, but really only frustration from the fans. Wow so fans aren't allowed to be frustrated with the team???
Winning cures all, its unfortunate that our team is 0-4 right now, and nobody singing cheer, but isn't that the nature of sports??

I want to know who exactly he wants and who will be our future HOF'er. He has talked enough s**t about Smith so he's obviously a QB expert. I want to know who the next great QB will be for us.

We draft the best players available next year, QB or not. The main thing benching Alex Smith does is send us into a definable moment. It sends us into a Smith less era, which is a good thing no different than sending us into a Kwame Harris less era.
Sometimes a good move is to remove something that has held you down even if it's not immediately replaceable by something better. However, we can replace it with something that we are not committed to and that's a good thing.

Missing the point Joe, I want Shaj the QB coach of the decade to point out which QB we will draft and why. He can point out every issue with Smith and why he is a failure, I want to see him point out his winner.
