AGAIN he played well in the SPREAD!!!! Why don't we implement it more? Why do we wait to the last minute or when we are behind? It pisses me off!

This poll is a joke......
Niner fans dissapoint me.
Smith puts up stats, but still loses the game for us and he is cheered. Meanwhile the guy who didn't put up the huge stats won.
This is the "new" Niner fanbase, brother. Where mediocrity is "acceptable" and moral victories can still be found in losing efforts. I dont know what happened to the old Niner faithful (maybe they just dont know how to use the internet), but I find it laughable that the team can be lauded in a losing effort.
Damn pathetic........
Gotta agree..
Alex's career has looked so inconsistent up to this point that any of sign of good QB play is praised. This decent performance doesn't erase the Seattle game and doesn't make up for the last 5 years.
He still has a LONG way to go, but I liked what I saw tonight.
He needs to do it CONSISTENTLY to get my respect. I'm not lowering my standards for anybody.
Decent?!
BLOW dude. You f'ing suck. Hater b***h!
Whats wrong with what he said. Smith plays better at home. Lets see him do this in Arrowhead before we crown his as$. He had some nice drives and some great throws but he also had some questionable throws. We need Consistency, but he took some steps forward.
This thread is not an attempt to "crown" Smith. It's to gauge to the perception of how Smith played tonight.
I will say this about Arrowhead, I too am worried about the crowd noise. It's not just how Alex plays on the road either, the coaching staff has a lot to prove in that area as well...
Hehe, yes I believe the wristband will help.
However, there has been talk about the communication being given to Smith in time.
I think this is something I need to see happen smoothly on the road, before I can have any real confidence in it. Heck there was even one instance of it, again tonight.
That was a personnel issue. Davis was sitting on the bench instead of standing on the field where he should have been. He came out late and it cost us that DoG penalty. That was not play calling that caused the penalty. It was a Dohp I forgot that was my assignment penalty.

The int's throw it off, at least one was not his fault.

I Agree brother. He threw 2 interceptions that were both his fault. One horrible pass to gore that was picked, and a tipped ball that should have been thrown better. i think smith did enough to give all smith supporters another week to cheer for him , but am not drinking the Kool-Aid. Not saying he's the reason we lost because he wasn't but am still not sold on Alex Sh*t
bulls**t. One was basically his fault but was STILL a great play. The other was a great play, period! Hater!
9 out 10 games he throws 0 interceptions if he throws those same passes.
so what ur saying is if smith continues to miss wide open guys, it will result in 0 interceptions,? ur a funny dude. it will be picked almost everytime. What does smith have to do for you to get off his nuts? Am not a hater, i support smith because he's starting and i want to win, but am not gonna gargle his sak just because he played alright, sorry no homo but it wont happen.
real mature post dips**t. any non moron would agree that the interception on the poorly thrown ball to Gore was a great play by the defender. Typical straw man bulls**t on your part by putting words in my mouth. Keep your immature f*g humor to yourself f**ktard.

THat's what happens when you throw it as many times as Brees did and as many dink and dunks as well.
But hey whutever, you would complain if you were hung with a new rope so this should surprise noone that you're not willing to give Smith his props. He DID play better than Brees. You can get snakebit twice and still have a better game than your opponent.
Even Matt and Steve were saying that Alex looked better.
But what do they know right?
~Ceadder
Brees took what the D gave him. You saw he wasn't dinking and dunking when he needed to make things happen. He made good plays in the clutch like always.
Alex was impressive. Why can't we just give him his props without going off and saying he looked better than the Super Bowl MVP? The fact is, they both did what they had to do at the end to win the game. There's really no need to put Brees down.

Perhaps you're right, the way I percieved it was the staff didn't call the right play and Davis thought he needed to get in there. What you're saying makes more sense though.

Attack the opinion not the Poster. No need to get yourself banned because of a smartass remark from the other guy. I do agree with you but try to dial it back a notch.

A few comments regarding tonight's game....i read your posts everyday and though i can see where the Alex Smith haters or non-believers are coming from, tonight though you have to admit that there was something different about Alex Smith. He was poised and looked very sharp in the pocket. Those were unfortunate turnovers that you cant put the blame solely on Smith. Those were not the Seattle Seahawks we lost to, those were the defending champs and we should have beat them tonight. The seahawks game was a fluke and after a win at KC, a division where we are clearly the more talented team and with A. Smith playing the way he did tonight..there is no reason why still cant take the division and make the playoffs..
I agree with you completely and welcome to the board.

Weak response to how Smith played tonight.

How is that putting Brees down? Our bread and butter Offense for years thrived on 5 and 10 yard slant routes. If that's putting Brees down then I need to commit Sepoku for putting Joe and Steve down.
Face it Alex just looked better. If it weren't for two very bad plays Smith would have won that game. Brees did enough to win and that's what mattered most when the final gun sounded.

It was not just by sheer will power that the OL look great tonight. It was because there was usually 15+ seconds still on the clock when they got to the line. That allowed time to make adjustments that were not possible last week. With that kind of time, the offense can operate with a lot more confidence and efficiency.

without a doubt, his best game. Started shaky, but he was money for 3 quarters.

Alex Smith 23/32 = 72% Completion percentage
Drew Brees 28/38 = 74 Completion percentage
Alex Smith = 1 TD 2 INT's
Drew Brees = 2 TD's
Alex Smith = 275 passing yards
Drew Brees = 254 Yards
f**k the passer rating. Alex was almost dead even with Drew Brees besides the two INT's which were NOT Alex's fault by the way.

It just sucks that it's either our offense or defense that can never put a game away for us.
One game our offense runs us down the field and ties it up, and our defense lets them score. The next game our defense makes a stop and our offense sputters and we lose. Consistancy is what is killing us. If we can make the stops when we need to, or make the big plays when we need to we will be a damn good team.
