Alex played very good...and more importantly came threw when we needed him.
I have confidence in him now....mainly because I feel he has more confidence in himself now...as well as Sing & Raye having more in him as well. So hopefully we open it up a bit more now...
those mistakes we made can be fixed....but having a QB you can rely on is something very hard to get fixed....and I think that is more what I got out of tonights game...
hopefully he builds on this.

I disagree. Not a knock on Smith, cause I think he played admirably despite messing up early, but I think the team collectively had an adrenaline "boost" because it was a Monday nighter PLUS Rice's number was being retired.
The reality is that games like this shouldnt even be close. We outplayed the Saints and still lost, which tells you that the Niners are no where near as being good as everyone would like.
I think we go 8-8 at best...........realistically 6-10. Smith bought himself a 6 game extension, and once again the Niners prove that we have no depth on our roster. Ginn is out, and we have NO ONE to replace him. Westbrook is non-existent....

I feel you on the positives but I can't call a lose great. No moral victories. remember how the Vking s"moral" victory was supposed to propel the team last year? every week they throw games away and every week we say these are problems that can be fixed. But the same dumb mistakes keep happening. Props out to the o line tonight. Davis did his thing at RT tonight. Defense just has to read screens a little bit better overall great recovery by the secondary.

I think this oputs a bigger fire in us.... a couple of BAD mistakes, but our offense moved the ball and the defense did a great job with what they got from the muffed punt and high snap
(Though I am wiating for the first reh-tard to say that any real NFL QB would have jumped and gotten the bad snap)

This was the best I have ever seen Alex Smith play as a 9er. His interceptions hit receivers in the hands before the Saints got them. This loss hurts, but I see some confidence coming out of this. I really thought this might be worse than Seattle after the opening minutes.

We did have a boost but every game is a different story. Next week is a must win for us and everybody knows so then that will be our boost.
I still think we can go 9-7 and if we can stop tos then we'll be in very good shape.

Still WAY too many mistakes though. That bad snap by Baas that resulted in a safety may have been the worst of all-time. Alex looked great though and so did the O-line. They looked great both run and pass blocking. I don't think they allowed a single sack all game.
You had to expect us to come out and fight though, and we STILL almost overcame our bonehead mistakes. Definitely a lot more reason to be optimistic moving forward. The schedule gets a hell of a lot easier from here on out.

I think the team will be ok. We just need to go on a win streak.

agreed too many mistakes, mainly on Baas and the tipped ball for an INT, but we played our hearts out, and Im damn proud of this team.
We played our asses off, and I couldnt be more proud of Alex Smith and the team.
Next Week, Im confident we can get it done in KC, cause we need it. BADLY. Or 0-3 doesnt look good.

Niners made 8-9 big mistakes. Saints none. That was the game. Our coaches suck. Niners will make the playoffs. The O-line is much better.
