CB: Jimmy Johnson, Eric Wright
S: Ronnie Lott, Merton Hanks
P: Andy Lee (punting is considered a defensive play)

Oooooh Mr. York, I think your suggestion of Hacksaw Reynolds will ruffle a few feathers. He was an LA Ram for a loooong time and at the wrong time (that rivalry used to be white hot) before he was briefly a Niner.

He was with the team for roughly the same time period (81-85) as Fred Dean and he was instrumental (leadership wise) in the first Super Bowl team.

No offense to the long-time oldschool Kezar era fans, but the 49ers-Rams rivalry is no longer what it once was, sadly.

York, you're absolutely right about his leadership on that defense, he was a helluva player and real leader on '81's Super Bowl winning defense.

I also agree that it's a pity that the Rams rivalry is dead an buried forever. No LA, no rivalry, unfortunately.

Leo Nomellini is the best DT in league history...an all time type talent. The next best Niner defender is Ronnie Lott(in my opinion he's a top three alltime DB), with Sir Cedrick Hardman coming in third, and Charles Haley fourth.

It has to be Deion Sanders...He took away an entire side of the field and forced offenses into double coverage elsewhere. Fundamentally changed the entire D. There has never been another player for the 49ers like him.

If he stayed on the team we win every Super Bowl while he is with us. That is how stifling his presence was. Even with D. Loville at running back Neon Deion gets the Niners to the show every year.
