I mean when can some of us just be satisfied. I mean s**t, even if we snuck into the playoffs and are one and done, then at least we got there.

i remember Young and Montana both agreed that there is a fine line between 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, and 10-6 on. And we were at the 8-8 mark. I think if we went 9-7, and then even 10-6, that it would be more than enough to win the division.

Smith did a great job in that last game. The ONLY thing that does not bother, but lets me throw a little caution into the wind, is the fact that he has had no Game Action with Crabs. And very little with VD.

Pre-season is used to work on the little details. Work on the little if i turn this way or that way. yes they all worked hard in the offseason, but other than the game VD played in. The timing wasnt quite down yet. Dont remember if it was just a bad throw or not, im just concerned that they were supposed to get that 11-85 embedded in everyones brain like in TC, but that has yet to happen. And he and Crabs worked together in the offseason, but have yet to apply it to the game.

Just wondering anyone else thought about this chemistry yet???

everyone is saying this...it's just kinda overrated honestly. him and VD played fine last year with no chemistry in those final 11 games...seriously, this is being read into WAY too much

You know i dont know if it is. Lets for reality's sake, understand that everyone when they play us, will be watching that 11-85 chemistry. and ur right last year, they were able to do it on a whim. Like a child when he opens up a new toy.

But once that child masters that toy, it can be the best thing in the world. Im saying yeah they clicked last year, but in order to have the same turn around, and try to do even better, they are gonna have to work on it. And i think i've only seen one pass to VD long and thats was the missed opportunity.

Just saying, the words practice makes perfect does mean something. And i dont see how they can really get all the intracacies down with no practice in real game situations.
Jaworski famously criticized Smith in that Monday night game against Seattle where Smith was playing with the shoulder-separation. That was the game where Julian Peterson commented on how much pain it seemed Smith was in and Nolan said "Peterson is not a doctor." I'm not saying that Smith didn't have some mechnical flaws prior to the injury and I don't know if Jaworski had critiqued Smith's mechanics prior to that game or not. But if he did I never heard it. But I have heard Jaworski talk about his comments during that game before and never have I heard anyone (interviewer or Jaworski) mention the injury.

Remember the first play from scrimmage in that game where Smith slung it 50+ and barely missed over the top to Jackson.

I gotta agree with him. My only concern with Smith is his deep ball. Can he throw it accurately?

in practice we can but in games we have to wait no way ginn can beat a number 1 CB but he should be able to beat those number 3 corners just fine

Maximum pwnage.
He's clearly better and a lot better. That's obvious to everyone including NFL analysts and ex players and such. It's just ZRF and a few around here who think he hasn't improved...

It's not so much that they can't see he is an improved player, it is more like they refuse to admit it because they have been so vocal about how bad he is and would never be any better. The more reasonable of these guys are starting to see what those of us with patience suspected all along.

Some people around here are not reasonable. I never believed it was the right way to develop a QB to have a different OC and system ever single year...

Nobody likes to admit they maybe be wrong.

I heard it this morning. Sounded like he was being nice. He talked higher of the stinking Raiders! Kev Lynch voiced his concerns. The same damn thing I said.... Chec$$$$$$$$$$$$Alex Smith finished with six incompletions, four coming from dropped passes, one from good coverage on a long pass to Delanie Walker and another on a throw to Ted Ginn Jr. who was out-of-bounds. Smith was fairly accurate, however his receivers drop a lot of passes; he must not throw a catchable ball. Smith also ran right nearly every time there was pressure. He better learn to run left, particularly with a rookie right tackle. Smith hasn't shown the ability to break his habit of running right nor does he seem comfortable pushing the ball deep. The one time he consciously went deep (in the preseason opener) he finished with a passer rating of under 10.

I disagree. I was actually surprised at how positive Jaws' comments were; more passionate than I expected.
You know bringing up jaws reminded me of the leg lock before the throw thing he brought up in 07... I'm a smith supporter but is he still doing that??? I haven't been payin attention to this

a drop is a drop it means that it hit the WR hands and then it fell otherwise it isnt counted as a drop so all drops recorded are accurate

right handed QBs cant run left otherwise the throwing motion would take way too long causing an INT or an incompletion for sure unless the WR is wide open

its hard to throw deep when you have no deep targets the only ones we have is ginn who is being shut down by the number 1 CB on the other team when he had VD and Crabs last year his intermediate passing and deep passing was pretty good (especially his intermediate passing) he simply just doesnt have the wepons right now

If he is, its not nearly as visable. I think Alex has been working to correct the leg lock. I think we should give credit to our QB Coach Mike Johnson as well.
